Let's be honest. it's going to be bought by some you tuber who will make a few videos about it and then flip it for something else.

Got a call from the dealer asking what color I wanted for the core edition. He said the Circuit edition is going to hard to get.

Badhobz 10-03-2022 11:46 AM

the color choices on the GR are something to be desired.... why not a pop color? white black red...... excuse me while i go back to bed.

HOW ABOUT THAT TROLLROLLA BLUE!?!?!

So the good news for us in Canada is that Core comes standard with performance pack (LSD) and heated seats. Differences with Circuit are purely cosmetic. I'm first on the list at my dealership and told them I'll take whatever car they get - hoping for Circuit but expecting the Core. Suede seats is probably the one thing I'll miss most from Circuit. Spoiler and red calipers are an easy aftermarket add-on.

Still no ETA on when they land or quantity, but it sure feels good to have a signed Bill of Sale in hand.

underscore 10-10-2022 11:00 AM

I'm curious what a bill of sale means since there aren't any allocations, ETAs, quantities, etc yet.

bcrdukes 10-10-2022 02:46 PM

My assumption would be a fancy term for an invoice without a product to sell.

Manic! 11-09-2022 01:52 PM

a bunch of GR's at Vancouver island motor sport circuit. The also had an a91 manual Supra.

Dbone 11-10-2022 11:01 AM

Damn man... I was thinking of getting a Golf R. Since used is the same as new MRSP I may as well get a new one... and the VW guy told me it was about 18 months for a new one... so clearly this seems like a sensible alternative?

Think my wife would believe that?

Badhobz 11-10-2022 11:59 AM

if your wife thinks like my wife, than the golf is WAY better than the ratrolla (at least its german.... and not a student driver ratrolla!)

I hate to say this.... but if you are not already on the list... errr... your 18 month wait for the Golf R is probably faster...

underscore 11-11-2022 02:18 PM

I'm third on the list at the dealer and I was told I probably won't even be offered one til 2024.

Got this email:

We are still actively working on securing your new GR Corolla. Your order has been placed and date stamped with Toyota Canada. Unfortunately we have no estimate of ETA or any further idea until the order is filled by the manufacturer. With the current global parts and component shortage, availability is extremely scarce in all industries including automotive.

Rest assured, we are on your side and want you to have your vehicle as much as you want it. We will secure the soonest one available and update you when we have. Thank you for your understanding and partnership.

Manic! 11-25-2022 01:50 AM

You can get another Ratrolla with that market adjustment and have some money leftover :yuno:

68style 11-25-2022 11:37 AM

Regular Corolla also has markup these days FeelsBadMan

radeonboy 11-25-2022 12:09 PM

I decided to pull the plug on the GR Corolla deposit that I placed last year. I thought placing the deposit early will get me a decent spot in line, but it turns out that means next to nothing nowadays since the SM is just allocating cars to those that best fulfill their arbitrary criteria.

I won't have a problem meeting their demands (good trade-in, finance/lease deals only), but it feels a bit masochistic that I have to jump through all these hoops just so we can pay $50-60k minimum for a Corolla. And who knows what else they'll tack onto the vehicle.

tofu1413 11-25-2022 12:25 PM

^ same with the FL5 CTR. The real annoying thing is probably 70% of them are speculators too. buy to make a quick flip to make money.

You should still buy it given the opportunity. I’m sure you can flip it for a lot even if you have to jump through some hoops initially. Not saying you won’t like it, but you have options.

This came across my mind but decided it wasn't worth the hassle, especially when leases may not be transferrable down the line and I will lose my trade-in car as part of the buying process. Plus they could easily lowball my trade-in enough to negate any profits I could see from selling the GR.

Honda Canada ran a reservation system through their website for the FK8 LE allocations, so I'm surprised they aren't doing something similar for the FL5 given how limited they're going to be. Although most of those LEs ended up with speculators, at least it felt like a more fair system where people had an equal shot at securing one while leaving the dealers out of the equation.

68style 11-25-2022 01:12 PM

It's too bad people won't vote against these initiatives by dealers/manufacturers with their wallets... I had 3 diff deposits for a GR Corolla and pulled all of them just on principle.

Lifelong Toyota fan, but they can keep their GloRyhole Corolla................ even though I want one quite badly FeelsBadMan

Badhobz 11-25-2022 01:25 PM

That’s a GLORolla

You could….. buy 2006 ratrolla XRS, mod the shit out of that 2zz all the while being best ratrolla to ever rolla.

Or !!!!

Buy the normal hatch ratrolla. Add “holes” and jack shit all for performance, then laugh all the way as you reliably drive it for 20+ years while sipping regular gasolina like a boss.
