It's too bad people won't vote against these initiatives by dealers/manufacturers with their wallets... I had 3 diff deposits for a GR Corolla and pulled all of them just on principle.
Lifelong Toyota fan, but they can keep their GloRyhole Corolla................ even though I want one quite badly
That is because in their eyes, they can somehow justify overpaying for one. Toyota brain fu*k them so hard that, its literally stealing candy from a baby.
You could….. buy 2006 ratrolla XRS, mod the shit out of that 2zz all the while being best ratrolla to ever rolla.
You can get 280-300 out of a 2zz (at least in the Lotus).
I talked to my local Honda dealer about the CTR, and interestingly they told me they don't even have a list going at the moment. They said call in the new year and maybe they will have one going then. When asked if the price would be as per the website the guy gave me a look like I was retarded and said it would have some 'accessories' on it...
I'm confused why you guys are pulling deposits because of the dealers allocating them when the cars don't even have an ETA for Canada yet, let alone any allocations.

Honestly for me, I hate how Toyota has handled the launch of this car and I hate the new car market how it’s turned into the bad side of collecting anything (if you’ve ever collected anything) where people who really are enthusiasts get blocked out etc… so it’s my form of protest even if it’s not really much of anything and they don’t care.
Also I know I was like 75th I’m line at Richmond Toyota and way down the line at North Van and I don’t have a trade in which was made clear at Richmond anyway was the only thing they care about, so I figured my money was better off in my bank.
For me it was a combination of factors, some 68style already mentioned above.
1. How Toyota handled the launch of this product, particularly with the social media contest for the Morizo edition in Canada and purposefully limiting production to maintain hype for the product
2. How the dealerships are handling the queue of this vehicle. When I made my deposit the finance manager said they haven't seen anyone making a deposit on the model (the model was still only rumoured at that point). I inquired again a few months later on my position in line (the model was still unannounced) and the SM told me there are a few people ahead of me but wouldn't write down my position in line. Eventually my position in line became arbitrary subject to conditions.
3. Conditions for an allocation - unless your buddy buddy with the dealership, right now they require a finance / lease deal with a 'retail-able' trade-in as collateral. This opens me up to a lowball trade-in offer and a high cost of borrowing. Using the '23 Supra's interest rates as a guide, we're looking at 7.79% for a 24mo lease or 5.49% at 36mo for finance which adds up to be a good chunk of change. And who knows what other accessories of fees they will force onto the sale.
4. Having a bit of insight how the sales side works on allocation. I've been within earshot to allocation conversations on a few occasions, and it's generally favorable to those that seem clueless about the trade-in's market value (lowballed hard), or are personal friends of the SM / dealership management that will reassign incoming inventory on a whim.
5. Learning that some dealership groups are enjoying record profits in the past few years as a result of limited supply and being able to impose these profit-maximizing initiatives.
I understand that there are enough people out there that are okay with these sales practices, but I find it challenging to engage in these business practices as a consumer while watching the other side rake in profits like fallen leaves. I have no problem paying salespeople their commission if they are providing something of value to me, but placing all these hurdles for me to clear solely to maximize their profits is the opposite of that.
That said, I also recognize that Toyota and its dealer network are profit-driven businesses with a goal to maximize their returns. It just sucks that this means the intended demographic are being pitted against each other in order to secure an allocation.
Unless they do something amazing like put two of these little three poppers in a row, one turbo each, and then install that straight 6 into a supra making 600 HP stock Toyota power.
Then I'll be the first in line on my knees doing what needs to be done to get allocation.

What they should do is put two of these side by side and stick it in a AWD Camry. Fuck yo M3 here comes a real GR Camry.
GR is also a horseshit name. Gazoo racing ?! What the fuck is a gazoo?! Sounds like gonzo the muppet went racing.
Should have capitalized on the TRD stuff and kept it that way. Instead those dumb shits made TRD into an off roading package for a tundra / taco. Wtf ?! Why.

This is just like the real estate thread. Fomo just say fuck it and don't buy screw the dealer and their greedy asses 6 months later they will probably beg for business once the recession kicks in
