Configurator is live for Canada now but it's no options, no trim levels, etc. Can't even add a block heater :alonehappy: |

The Burnaby GR is a $100/entry raffle. Not sure how I feel about it. But at least they are selling for MSRP. |

Canada only has one trim level, which is a Core + Performance Pack + half the Cold Weather Pack (heated seats, no heated wheel) + no Tech Pack. Which is a-ok with me since that's everything I want and nothing I don't lol. There's a couple accessories to pick from but nothing crazy. I might buy floor mats and roof rails down the line but not until I start winter driving it. |
Openroad Richmond Toyota also got theirs. |

^Ever better. Pretty sure more than a few people will be willing to jump on your MSRP allocation by paying you $5K to $10k, you can instantly change your $100 to 10K looool. |
I went to the auto mall tonight trying to get an allocation for the new Prius. Didn’t know they close the dealerships at 7pm now (I thought they were open till 9). So ended up in Westminster Toyota. I asked them about the GR ratrolla and the dude said their allocation is coming Jan. Apparently they aren’t even taking deposits for the new Prius yet. Hmmmm interesting Also here’s their wait times Sienna 1 to 1.5 years Prius 1 yr Corolla hybrid 1.5 yrs Rav 4 prime 2 yrs Taco 6 month 4Runner 6 to 8 months Venza is kind of the sweet spot right now if you want a hybrid. 4 to 6 month |
This Burnaby Toyota raffle is a joke. It's probably sold already but they frame it as a donation. You don't even get a donation receipt. So the dealership gets to take your money and donate it on your 'behalf' but THEY get a tax break. On top of this finance or lease only, no cash buy. Non transferrable and you cannot sell the car. So fucking dumb. |

why do people fall for these tactics? FOMO? people are so gullible, it's just a corolla |

^^ that is the only reason. The car itself has not proven anything nor does it have any pedigree to its name. Its just pure speculation and hype at the moment. |
yeah it does, that 3 cylinder is off the GR yaris, which itself is a homologation special for rally racing. So it does have racing pedigree (the engine and drive train). Gazoo won WRC in 2018 with that engine |
There's going to be 9 Morizo's in Canada, we're getting more than 10 overall lol. There's already 24 en route to Canada. |

Toyota dealers are probably one of the worse of the bunch gaming the buyers right now as they were already dealing with huge waits before the shortage. |

true true. but this is the closest thing we'll get to a GR Yaris in canada/usa. Its still a worthwhile car to pursue and one that i dont think you would lose any money on. Performance wise its not spectacular, but neither was the mk4 supra, or the Celica, or any halo toyota products that ever existed when compared to their contemporaries. |
Doug has driven both the yaris and the corolla and he loves the GR Corolla. Also we are getting way more than 10. Each dealer is getting at least 1 a year. |
Doug liking something is almost enough to make me not like something. |

Let's say Safeway collects $10k in donations. Donations that come from customers are NOT tax-deductible for the business. Even if the CFO was high on crack and claimed it all as income, that's taxable income, which when they go to donate, they are not able to claim 100% of it. So they will end up paying 30%+ tax on 10k (profit), and get back 10-33% in "tax breaks" on that 10k. Look at the math here. When you donate through methods like this, the business is only the guy that holds the bucket and gives it to the charity. You know the guy the stands outside with the bucket and bell? That's them, the guy with the bell isent claiming all the donations on his taxes, the bucket is just bigger. They don't claim or want any of it on their books. Your donation has zero impact on the numbers of the business. You don't get a receipt because Safeway can't give you one, only the charity can if you donate directly. If you've ever filed your own taxes and claimed donations, you can see you're not ahead by any means. This isn't some cooperate mastermind/UNICEF collab aimed to screw you and pad their pockets. What they DO get is PR and goodwill with the market/community etc. Charities actually reach out to companies to do stuff like this because it is by far the CHEAPEST way to collect money for their cause. They use existing foot traffic and some elses' employees to bring in donations. Otherwise, they need fancy events, galas, and volunteers to walk the streets to collect pennies. When you donate at the grocery store, that is actually one of the most effective ways to ensure your money goes further. Thought I'd clear this up because most charties do good work. |
what's the deal with Doug? I see a lot of hate for him on other forums as well |
I dunno how anyone can watch any of those YouTube reviewers. Every one I've seen is terrible. Doug I can't watch for more than 3 seconds because he can't stop flailing around. |
