I was quite high on this car, but after watching/reading some technical reviews, I'm not sure anymore. It's a FWD car first and foremost and the rear axle occasionally comes on, with that in mind I feel like the Type R would be a better car. I was expecting more of a full time AWD system like the Focus RS.
The GT4 they stuffed a few hundred grand into to rally?
I guess?
But if you look at any of their consumer offerings, they have always lagged in performance. I don't think anyone can argue that their AWD in the Tacoma, Rav etc are poor compared to the Americans and Germans.

I mean the FoRS has it's fair share of issues. And compared to the CTR nothing else sub-$80k really comes close to its driving feel.
The GR Yaris has been out for a few years and the drivetrain seems pretty solid. Yes it's more difficult to get the rear to step out in the GRC but I think that can be solved with rear sway bars, and a stiffer rear. But I understand though, Toyota's marketing didn't really do this thing any favors as they made it seem like this thing had a very lively rear end.
A sad and disappointing thing is -- this selling above MSRP stuff isn't just limited to real cars. I see it happening with Hot Wheels too.
Damn I am not going to pay more than $2 for a damn Hot Wheels...
Are you saying I can let go of my unopened Hot Wheels collection for retail? I'm thinking of liquidating most of what I accumulated over the last 4-5 years but seems like a pain to sell them individually through FB Marketplace...
Going back on topic, I'm going to guess the Langley GR will sit around and sell closer to $55-60k pre-tax.

Depending on the desirability of the car, it is pretty easy to see them having an asking price of $4 - $10. Ebay has ridiculous prices of over $100 for certain ones too, but I don't imagine those would sell -- at least not easily.

Where did you read that? Everything I've seen said that's not how it works, it's full time AWD. Everyone thinks the Celica is FWD too for some weird reason.

I haven't tried any of the American or German offerings but what's wrong with Toyotas systems? I can't say I've noticed anything wrong with them but I've only driven the older ones.

2023 Honda Civic Type R vs. 2023 Toyota GR Corolla Circuit vs. 2022 VW Golf R
3rd GRC
HIGHS: Mechanical tingles, unfiltered engine note, direct shift action.
LOWS: Stiffest ride, smallest back seat and cargo space, least nice interior.
VERDICT: It doesn't happen often, but occasionally a great car finishes last.
2nd Golf R
HIGHS: Quietest, smoothest ride, most features.
LOWS: Least engaging to drive, too-large shift knob and vague shifter feel, maddening interior controls.
VERDICT: Mature, with a wild side.
1st CTR
HIGHS: Best steering, handling, shifting, and seats; livable ride quality.
LOWS: Light on features versus the Golf, noisy over the road.
VERDICT: Unfathomably great, with no "for a front-driver" qualifier needed.
