Speaking of Mini, my wheel bearing on my R53 Mini needs to be replaced. 325,500KM. Super unreliable.

Check the lower control arm bushings while your at it, those love to fail and chew up tires. You could fit a finger inside of mine lol

Not for sale. Tried an online chat but failed. Called them and wasted 10 minutes of my time just to find out it was not for sale.

Then why have the damn thing listed ? Seriously fuck these people gatekeeping this piece of shit and all the other “affordable” performance cars.

Back in the early 2000s you can throw a stone and hit like so many cars that fit that category
300zx/240sx if you go back to like 98
Mustang
Celica
Prelude
Integra / RSX
Crx

The Mustangs weren't really good back then
The S13 240SX was called a flying chicken for a reason because it handled poorly.
Celica was a weak Corolla engined thing
Prelude was fat
CRX is early 90s at the latest

The only cars that had real sporting potential was the Integra and RSX.

Nostaligia is a hell of a drug because everything is looked upon with rose tinted glasses. There were really only a few standouts.

Huh? Integra was mostly a 140hp bloated Civic unless you got a GS-R... no different than the Celica in any way with the GT-S model being the same as the GS-R.

RSX was slow as hell too in K20A form with only the Type-S being anything to write home about.

I’d take all those oldies over this GR ratrolla to be honest. I’d even take the og bugeye wrx over this.

I meant to type wrx instead of crx but yeah I’d still take those older, hydraulic steering, light weight, crap boxes over these new things.

At least the Integra you can get a GS-R or Type R, and the RSX you can get the Type S with the K20, plus the DC2 had the double wishbone front suspension. I can't comment on the B18C1 but the K20 was and still is a great engine. The DC2R isn't a generation great for nothing.
The 2ZZ in the Celica GTS is cool, but it was weak and 5 years late to the game in terms of performance.

WRX is.... fine...

If I were to pick something from the 2000's
S2000
NC Miata
E46 M3
Unfortunately none of those were affordable new, even the Miata was well into the 30k range.

The States got a 3rd gen 4 door Integra GS-R that Canada never got. It was manual as well. Japan got the 4 door Type R. But nobody talks about those cars. Acura could have used those cars for their marketing of this new Integra. But they had to use the legendary 2 doors of each generation.

Apparently Toyota's dealer inventory system is hooked up to their website. When they post a goods receipt to take delivery it shows up even if the vehicle is already spoken for.

It looks like they have tried a few local workarounds (i.e. 'Call for pricing') but they really just need to set up something to remove these from the available inventory.

the thing was, at least you had options, new or used, so that helped with the pricing

dealers gatekeeping a STI wasn't uncommon, but you could just go look for the next best thing

v8 4 doors, manual only cars...there used to be choices now whoever builds one new has market cornered

one point i agree with is at least we have Type R and Golf R now, those were kinda forbidden fruit for a while

i think currently we're in this 'golden age' because everything is last of its kind and probably the best ICE will get, but the value proposition for the most part is rather dead

the BRZ new at 25k usd will be missed whenever production runs out

i saw my first GR ratrolla in the wild today. A white one in richmond heading towards my hood in west richmond. Had to a double take as its really not that visually distinctive vs the regular ratrolla hatch (especially in core trim).

p.s. i didnt know you can only get the white on the core trim. Circuit is black, red, grey only for 2023.

Sorry to break your balls, but 68style is correct.

Update: Was not the wheel bearing that was the issue. The exhaust header came loose and had to be tightened. All is well again.

I know the whole market is thin right now but those seem like a bit of a unicorn too. I can only find 5 in the whole province, all of them are AWD (I'd prefer to try RWD), only 1 is manual and it's a 2018 with 60k for $52k.
