Went to Peace Arch Toyota yesterday. A friend picked up a Supersonic Red Circuit edition. The paint is beautiful in person. In the sun, it has undertones of orange. In the shade, it looks like the Mazda red lol and the forged carbon still looks dirty haha.

Friend paid MSRP + trade in. He said he got a good deal on the trade in, probably only lost 5K in parts as he didn't bother with parting out his car.

Fun coincidence, this dealership was the one that sent Manic his car. There was a sales manager event at VIMC and Manic's GR was the one being ripped on LMAO.

I spent a bit of time speaking with Rob Smith, ASM, at OpenRoad Peace Arch Toyota and he claims he can get the allocations (evidently so too). So for anyone looking - he's the one to talk to.

OH? My friend drove this car at VIMC. Sent me some pics a few weeks ago.

Not really worried I still have a 5 year 100k power train warranty. They also had a bunch of other cars at that track that day.

The price for aftermarket parts for the car are crazy. Eventuri has a carbon fiber intake for $1500 US plus shipping. Magnaflow has an exhaust for $2300 US.

I'm just going to go to home depot for some PVC piping and some cherry bomb glass packs from Canadian Tire.

trollface 07-09-2023 04:53 PM

Exhausts systems are the biggest rip off in the whole industry.

Pile of 3in pipe for a Camry? $300 dollars, pile for 3in pipe for a M3? $4,000, pile of 3in pipe of a 911? $10,000.

Badhobz 07-09-2023 06:38 PM

What ?!? 300 bucks to get my Camry to sound awesome ?!?! Where ?!?!!

You’re still my hero manic. And the coolest guy in Nanaimo. Although I’m pretty sure your wayyyy outside the average income bracket of the region.

Yeah these JDM stuff isn't cheap. Eventuri is on par with the FK8 pricing. $2300 for an exhuast is cheap. Then again it's magnaflow. I don't know much about the GRC, but AWE is supposedly developing something. Remark is another decently priced American brand.

Eventuri is all show? Do cars nowadays even benefit from an intake other than some bling and extra noise? All the power are in the downpipe and tunes.

$2200 cad and they claim 16 HP and 10ft-lb of torq.

most of the stock airbox design nowadays flow quite well.

Doing a CAI OR SRI on the turbo cars today are mostly for sound... unless the factory turbo let pipes are quite narrow/ restrictive.

A lot of you guys are poking fun at Manic for getting a press car, but I admire him for being able to get it for MSRP, especially in this day and age. The important thing is that he was fully aware of its history before deciding to accept the car.

If any of you were in his position (we're offering the car to you for MSRP, but it is a press car), would you turn it down? Who knows how long you'll have to wait for the next one?

trollface 07-10-2023 02:16 PM

All CAI do is let the money flow out of your pocket faster.

Unless it's a big American V8. In that case it will make and extra 350hp to the wheels on a bad day.

Manic! 07-10-2023 02:32 PM

This video claims the intake makes over 16 HP on the dyno.

Nanaimo Toyota has a used Gr with 20000 KM for $59K. 10K over MSRP. Maybe if they get a blue flame circuit I can trade mine in.

I too admire him and hope his faith in Toyota quality is rewarded.

However, He’s in much the same position a lot of us are in. This isn’t a commuter , it’s not his only car, and it’s just for lawls. In that situation then yes, I would rather wait it out instead of gambling it. Nobody needs a super ratrolla. We only desire it.

On that basis I wouldn't wait. He's not going to rack up crazy mileage on it, so even if it has a shortened lifespan he's less likely to get to that point. If it does break it doesn't leave him stuck without a way to get around. If you're buying a car purely for funsies you may as well get it sooner and start enjoying it sooner.
