it will be fine, break-in is funny nowadays... watch that Integra Type-S video that was posted in the other thread, they're ripping all those things on a dyno to check their power levels prior to shipping them.

Then you get someone buying it and pansying around in it keeping it under 3k rpm when it's already been 3rd gear rolled to redline??? Old beliefs die hard.

AzNightmare 07-11-2023 11:42 AM

Just prefer to not have a car that's supposedly new, already beat on. Don't call it new if it's not new. But I guess now a days, that's the only way to actually get these funs cars at MSRP.

Eff-1 07-11-2023 11:44 AM

My buddy bought one of the very first RSX type S to hit the shores in the lower mainland back in 2002. A red one from Burrard Acura that ended up being a demo.

9 months later the engine blew on the Sea to Sky haha.

Modern engines are better but the manufacturer break in schedule still shows that you should pussy foot it for the first 1000km with varying speeds. Yes it SHOULD be fine, but why risk it.

Caveat: i pussy footed my maserati for 44,000kms and the bitch still cost me buckets of cash so obviously your mileage may vary.

snowball 07-11-2023 12:57 PM

1. Buy demo car
2. Hope engine blows before warranty is out and get a new engine
3. ???
4. Profit

All jokes aside, as 68style has mentioned, all the Hondas and probably GR corollas get beat on at the factory before they get shipped anyway. From the videos I've seen they really get wrung out on the dyno and track for many miles, I doubt the engine's life has been that shortened unless someone has been bouncing on the rev limiter all day.

Probably missed a shift and too embarrassed to tell anyone the real story lol

As long as its under warranty it will be okay. Most ppl don't keep cars for that long anyways. Usually after 6-7 yrs when warranty is up they will sell it or get bored of it.

trollface 07-11-2023 05:01 PM

Ask the Gr86 folks about warranties.

Still love it and drive it every day. A couple of quirks. Every time I start the car I get the message "Avoid excessive acceleration due to temperature" I thought the car was overheating at first but it's a warning to let the car come up to temp before going ham. I also get a warning on the dash and my phone to check the rear seat. I guess that's to make sure no parents accidentally leave their kids in the back seat.
I have been looking at some rims for winter tires. Everything used is overpriced. Might go with some Fast Dime wheels in bronze for a grand.

"Avoid excessive acceleration due to temperature"

Why don't companies just spell out exactly what things mean? Everything is so cryptic.

These cars all come with 20in ipads glued to the dash. Do they save money by using as few words as possible?

Say what you mean and have a picture of a blue motor, turning slowly to green. Literally everyone on earth understands this.

Badhobz 08-01-2023 06:08 AM

uhhh herrow! they japanese and the car is full of engrish !!!!! (you should be glad they dont use full sentences, or else it'll be like this)

You should be able to turn that off in a settings menu, I've had to turn that off for a few customers at bmw before

Supras (even manual ones) are selling for MSRP at real dealers now, no need to pay more than MSRP at shady used places

Who would have thought you can't sell 50k cars for 80k at 8% interest rates

68style 08-02-2023 07:17 AM

I been tracking 2019-2021 NSX prices/cars that come up for sale in the USA as a hobby and because I enjoy a similar level of self-induced pain as trollface does... almost every car is sitting for 90+ days now and prices are being dropped $7-10k USD which still isn't that much on a $150k+ USD vehicle, but they're still not moving... could probably see some 20% or more cuts on that $100k+ segment soon me thinks.
