Yeah... I'm #2 and #4 at two dealers and if I have to play the porsche game to buy a corolla then I'd rather just stick with my current stable and buy preowned in a few years. |
From Comox Toyota. Quote:
Only 3000 Demons where built. Some dealerships did not get any. This dealership had 16 brand new ones for sale. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a3...for-sale-2021/ I was second on the list in Nanaimo at one of the dealerships. They sold the only one they got to SR Auto. The other dealership in town got zero. Every one I have seen for sale has been spec'd wrong. |
Yah I did some business with Comox through my work before so I was taking to the guy I dealt with before and he told me the same… likely 1 unit. Squamish guy also did the virtual “arm around the shoulder” with me and said dude sorry we probably only going to get 1, and that’s if we get 1 at all |
When I placed my deposit at Westminster Toyota back in December, he actually knew what the GR Corolla was and took my deposit. The first guy that placed the deposit did it right after attending SEMA and told the manager about it. |
I emailed my dealer asking for any updates, we'll see what they say. Apparently there's 285 dealers in Canada, if they each only get 1 of the estimated 6000 to be made this year then that's only 4% of production which sucks. At those numbers odds are normal people won't be getting any. |
My contact at the dealer is out for a few days, she said should send me an update Wednesday. From grcorollaforum: https://i.imgur.com/0zQTOzG.png If Ontario is only getting 30, BC might get what, 20? |
Facebook group was saying probably a bit less than 2,000 for North America… Canada would be like maybe 10%? Time to move on to something else I think lol… |
I'm hoping that dealer saying 30 for Ontario is just talking about the Circuit Edition but who knows. The Toyota marketing guy said 6000 total this year, 8000 total next year. Which is still peanuts. We get roughly 1/6-1/10 of the cars the US does for other special models so 800-1,300 per year, nationwide. That's not a lot. |
seems more forbidden fruit than the focus RS? |
Called up my preferred Toyota dealer to inquire about this. Their response to me - :fuckthatshit: :fuckthatshit: :fuckthatshit: :fuckthatshit: :fuckthatshit: |
Eff it ... let those 20 people in YVR take the first crack at it .. work out the bugs in a first gen car. Get it in year 2 or 3 or 4 ... life is too short to be wasting time and energy trying to get one of the 20. It's like Jollibee on Granville ... it'll be there in a month's time ... why get in line for 4 hours to wait for some damn food. |

how much for this corolla? |

the yaris is expensive, it is 4.56M yen in Japan to get one, can't believe how much toyota will charge for this corolla. |
Japan / England / Hk etc prices have absolutely nothing to do with what they price cars at in North America tbh |
you can use the Japan pricing to compare it to regular Corolla then use that as a factor to calculate roughly what it'll cost here. Here's my take, yes the car has 300hp and a crazy AWD system. It's gonna be fast as the Yaris is and with the longer wheelbase it should be a bit more stable. The reason why the Yaris was cool is because it's a homologation special. The Corolla on the other hand is using the Yaris parts bin. IMO it's just not as special and to top it off the interior of the Corolla has always been one of the worst in class. It's small, materials are meh it's a good mode of transportation but not much more. If this is 50k, yes I'm sure it'll still sell out as it's a special vehicle but I just don't think it should be worth that. just my 2 cents. |
everyday driver on the 'tube felt turbo hatches like this will continue to be made, whereas GR86 not so much the thing is demand will likely be there even near the end of its generation and there's no telling if they'll make another like it afterwards it might be a high entry price for an 'econobox' but it's hard to see it losing much value in fact i wouldnt surprised if this barely breaking even at 50cad with 5-6k units a year |
^ IMO, I think toyota is never gonna make money on the GR Corolla (nor is it trying to), its A) Share some of the R&D cost with the yaris (its unfortunate that we will never see the yaris in actual WRC) B) Bring brand awareness, to bring the avg toyota buyer age down. They want people to think, it is cool to own a toyota in your 20's... do kids these days still use the word "cool"? C) Boost regular corolla sales? (You dont know how much people bought the Lancer and blacked out the bumper + side mount the license plate just so they resemble the EVO X from 50 yards away) |
I guess Toyota has their reasons as to why we never got the GR Yaris and Europe did. Now we get the GR Corolla while Europe does not. |
Every flipper and their moms are probably hounding every Toyota dealer in Canada. Just wait until the dust settles and actual production numbers are released. |

FK8 model year is over and used prices are still at or in case of phoenix yellow, over MSRP. Focus RS & Mitsubishi LanEvo's aren't even available anymore and used prices are overpriced. STI is even taking a break this model year because of the crappy reception of the new WRX |

Not sure how reliable this source is, but only 49 lbs difference... |
I've seen the 3249 in some Toyota specs, 3200 is new to me. I have a hard time believing the Circuit is 49lbs lighter with just a carbon roof skin and a larger spoiler. |
Just curious. How and why do you announce the release of a car then not tell anyone what it costs? What's the deal with that? |
