Interior quality is meh though, and small inside.

Also, rides pretty harsh on the 20s. So WAF was low lol, especially with the AMG Sport Exhaust option.

3-6month is what I've been getting told from the dealerships. Who knows though.

MY 2023s are coming out now and I also saw some internet speculation that there will be a 10th anniversary version as well since VIN numbers have been applied for that.

https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a3...orders-demand/

Quote:
Demand for the Toyota GR Corolla is strong. So strong, in fact, that Toyota is asking some dealers to stop taking orders because not all can be fulfilled.

"We have places right now, and parts of the country where there are so many orders being taken, we have to stop," said Jack Hollis, senior vice president of automotive operations at Toyota Motor North America, in an interview with Road & Track. A spokesperson further explained that Toyota doesn't want dealers taking customer deposits when there aren't enough allocations. Production of the GR Corolla will be fairly limited, as the car is largely hand-built at Toyota's GR factory in Motomachi, Japan. For the 2023 model year, there will be 6500 built, and production won't exceed 8000 units annually in future years.

There was some enthusiast outcry—including from the staff of Road & Track—over the fact that the rally-homologation GR Yaris wouldn't be sold in North America. We asked Hollis if the GR Corolla was greenlit in response to the positive reception of the GR Yaris here, but he said that the car was already in progress before the Yaris was revealed.

"Every product, whether it be Yaris, Corolla, 86, Supra comes from this family of GR, or this GR company. So when you say ‘Did we consider [the GR Yaris]?’ we consider anything," Hollis said. "It was just that we knew that GR Corolla fit our market... Doesn’t mean the GR Yaris couldn’t come here either, it's just that GR Corolla is what we made a commitment to."

The initial demand certainly indicates that Toyota made a good choice in bringing the GR Corolla here. (There's also the fact that homologating the GR Yaris for North America would've been expensive, as the regular Yaris isn't sold here.)

A Toyota spokesperson said that demand for the GR Corolla is likely higher on the coasts. The car isn't sold out for 2023, though. The consensus seems to be that if you want one at MSRP, the best tactic is to call dealers throughout the country.

Hollis is, unsurprisingly, very excited for the GR Corolla. "I think you gotta go to ‘What is GR?’ If you look at GR as being a personal passion point for Akio Toyoda, you have to sort of start from the genesis," Hollis said. "The fact that he himself is involved with the products that are being developed, the fact that GR86—starting back with Scion and FR-S—and moving on to Supra, you’re continuously seeing more and more what? Excitement, play, youthfulness, so the GR Corolla is just the next step in an evolution of the GR-ness in our company."

^^Sounds promising.

"A Toyota spokesperson said that demand for the GR Corolla is likely higher on the coasts. The car isn't sold out for 2023, though. The consensus seems to be that if you want one at MSRP, the best tactic is to call dealers throughout the country." - I wonder how this translates to the Canadian market since we will likely get way less than the U.S.?

Do we know if the Core will offer the LSD's as an option yet? What a deal killer that'd be.

Ahh cool. I didn't see anything mentioned on Toyota.ca but found this in C&D: https://www.caranddriver.com/toyota/gr-corolla Hoping it isn't exclusive to the U.S. though.

"We'd stick with the Core and splurge on the Performance package, which adds front and rear limited-slip differentials"

"The top-spec Circuit Edition trim comes standard with front and rear limited slip differentials; the base Core model offers those as an option"

Also:

"The Technology package on Core models adds an eight-speaker JBL stereo system, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and in-dash navigation; these items are all standard on the Circuit Edition"

Trying to see if a Core would be acceptable just in case the Circuit Edition is reserved for those who are blowing a Toyota exec. The interior is the big selling point for the Circuit Edition since I feel I could live without the spoiler, vented hood bulge, cf roof, and signed shift knob. Really hoping to hoon one of these this winter.

That's only confirmed for the US though, Canada has no mention of packages in their release. Just the Core with standard heated seats and the loaded Circuit. Worst case I'll add a rear LSD myself.

That allocation doesn't make sense, unless it's the Circuit Edition only.

Lexus IS500 Launch Edition - 500 units, 450 USA, 50 Canada.

GR Corolla - 6600 units, 6220 USA, 80 Canada? That makes no sense. If we're talking Circuit Edition which might be below 1000 units, even then you'd probably do a 90/10 split so 800 USA 80 Canada makes sense.

That sounds a lot lower than anything else I've heard. The lowest being that Ontario was just getting 90 this year.

There are ~250 dealerships in Canada so even just 1-2 per dealer is 250-500 cars lol.

Here's a little bit of footage of it driving on the track and dirt. Skip to the last 30 seconds for exhaust noises.

My friend who's a sales manager said one's going to charity and one's going to owner lol.

He was going to get one to flip but he said there's only 2 allocated to his dealership so it's likely one of those cars where you'd be paying $80 - 100K to get it.

I wonder how much the A91 Supra was

Is there any rules where management is not allowed to buy?
Because I have heard managers buy it, then sell it as a "used car" with 10kms or whatever from the factory to make a profit.
