Rears don't look as wide but could be the angles. Exhaust is interesting, looks like three tips but they're spread out under the rear bumper. |
Update page is down. It was available this morning. The staging page with pictures has the same information: https://staging.toyota.com/upcoming-vehicles/grcorolla/ |
This is a serious question but could this car attract attention from the VPD for VIs with its looks and exhaust and all? |
cf roof on launch edition this gon eat some golf r's lunch im surprised the standard rolla hb already weighs 3100lbs |
Here's the text from a pdf someone grabbed of the landing page, the pictures are the ones that have been posted already, they have little "info" buttons which obviously don't work in the PDF and I don't see anything explaining the asterisks. I wonder if they are trying to do the same thing with what the CTR did. |

Interesting to see more info on the ‘carbon roof on launch edition only’ as I wouldn’t want to buy it for a year or two into production |
I'd prefer a second or third year car too, if they make it a regular-ish production vehicle and not just a limited run. I'd be fine losing the carbon roof but I wouldn't want to lose the torsen diffs if those are also only on the launch edition. The extra center exhaust is definitely interesting, I'm not a huge fan of all the dead space on the front and rear bumpers but that's being super picky. I just hope those red strips are just reflectors and not lights, I hate when cars have that. More pics: https://i.imgur.com/9vkQGCV.png https://i.imgur.com/Qw6NahB.png https://i.imgur.com/3M7ELBn.png https://i.imgur.com/ONsdsQV.png https://i.imgur.com/7OXm61r.png https://i.imgur.com/Ak65ASM.png https://i.imgur.com/p2uxsmH.png The hood vents look like a bit of a throwback to the one on the 5th gen Alltrac/GTFour hood. |
It's too much to ask for, but model specific wide doors to match the rear flares would be nice. The Yaris GR has a CFRP roof as well, but it's vinyled over from factory. I don't see them making the investments to build a line for the CFRP roof for just launch editions and not use it again. With the STI cancelled, this is now hands down the best hot family car on paper in this bracket. FK8R is FWD, Golf R and WRX are open front and rear, Veloster N is FWD. |
So far I think it all looks great except for the ‘flare’ extension on the rear doors. Looks like it’s stuck on with double sided tape, I guess Toyota wasn’t willing to make new tooling for a door skin |
Sadly the red stripes are only reflectors and to be honest, they look pretty good at night when you have lights shining on them. I've seen a few cars here in Toronto with that and it often made me think, "Wow, are those lights?" And when I drive past them, it's like, no. :okay: Toyota - Not bad. :accepted: |
So what is Canadian MSRP? |
The STI Wagon is dead. Long live the STI Wagon. For reals though, this thing looks like sex. AWD. Wagon. 6MT Turbo. RE: The lower reflectors, I'd imagine and hopeful the JDM variant of some sort will have these as actual lights and they'd be a part you could likely import to retrofit. |
The only new car I'd buy and the first car I've ever put a deposit on :lol |
really hope they carry over the mechanical ebrake from the Yaris. Because the regular Corolla hatch are electronic |

Be interested in the comparison for interior dimensions. While this light rocket might eat the Golf R for a snack ... there is the day to day reality. I mean how often you going to Mission raceway to go head to head with Golf R for 0-60 times? There isn't even any pics of 2nd row passenger seating, from pics of exterior, I can only guess that it will be quite cramped. Shape of rear hatch area (angled on Corolla vs. straight back for Golf R) would hint that trunk (or boot for you Brits) space is noticeably smaller. |
