I agree with you, and also the Sportsnet play by play guy John Garrett.

Although I did not see the fifth goal from NJD, the first four goals are not because of Demko's play.

Neutral zone and offensive zone turnovers are killing the Canucks. Podz passes the puck up the middle during one power play, resulting in a two on one. Jersey scores.

The Canucks give up short handed goals as easily as giving up power play goals to the opposition.

Podkolzin should keep the puck deep in the Jersey's zone instead of making a high risk pass across the middle of the ice during that one PP when there is a high chance of a Jersey player intercepting the puck. John Garrett mentioned this turnover during the game and said that if Podz doesn't see a passing lane, then shoot the puck back deep into Jersey's zone. Start a play to cycle the puck instead.

Myers is careless with the puck too in the neutral zone.

All these odd man rushes that the Canucks are giving away during the games is the result of poor decision making in the neutral and offensive zones. Turnovers, turnovers.

Which goal do you think was Demko's fault tonight?
I would say the 2nd goal and the 3rd goal. I saw the play on the 3rd goal developing and to me it was obvious it what was gonna happen. That was a type of play old Demko would of easily read and saved. Just watching him play, him looking behind him after he makes saves, rebound control, him tracking the puck, hes not even close to being dialed in. My eyes arent deceiving me and the stats dont lie. Hes playing like shit, and you can blame the team in front of him but Martin plays infront of the same team aswell. Im not saying the defence isnt to blame aswell, they are 100% but Demko isnt helping the cause.

When Martin plays u can tell, we have a chance to win, the players play like they got a chance to win. When Demko is in, they gotta score 5+ goals.

It's up to Demko and the goaltending coach Ian Clark to fix things.

I hear that Clark is one of the best goalie coaches in the league.

Surely, both Demko and Clark can correct things to help Demko play better?

2nd goal was the only goal I would say Demko had a chance.
I don't have the angle to see if it was his own poor rebound control or did it tip off a stick and NJD got a lucky bounce. There were 2 sticks in front of his pads.

There's no way the 3rd one could have been saved other than "luck". That shot was elevated high, goalies saving those are the ones that get lucky where the shot goes into the glove. Demko got across fast enough, but he can only do so much on a 2 on 1... take the lower half of the net, pad and glove. If it goes high, SOL. It was a great finish. Similar to the 4th goal, but just on blocker side.

I'll agree on your assessment of him overall not being dialed in compared to the best version of what we've seen in him.

I think Martin's sample size is still relatively small to see if he's the real deal, but I would look forward to seeing him being utilized more. I think Bruce already said a few days ago that he's not necessarily just going to play back to backs, especially with what he's shown so far.

5th goal was an empty netter. Not Demko's fault, lol. (Miller of course... who else).
Was Clark the same coach during Bubble Demko?

Ian Clark has been there for decades and I think he's a brilliant coach. Whenever the Canucks goalies are playing to their best potential, it's like they barely move out there. They are just so mechanically efficient, with no wasted motion and no gaps for the puck to get by. It's amazing to watch if you look for it.

Whether it's Demko or Markstrom or Holtby or whoever, these guys all play like brick walls when they're "on".

Thing is, sometimes they aren't fully "on" and seemingly forget these fundamentals.. I think Demko might be in one of those ruts. He can get out though for sure, if it's all mental.

I would say like 75% of the goals being scored against him right now are cross-crease one timers though... I mean what can the man do. The D has to be there to check sticks or, better yet, intercept the passes or take away the pass option.

He can push off and do the splits all he wants, but NHL players don't miss those shots.

Demko was lighting it up last yr. Shouldn't be anything wrong with his form. Maybe hes just lazy this yr? Lol
Or he came to sense he can't carry this team to the promise land. Lol

Boudreau is going with Martin in net tonight in the game against the Ducks.

Good decision, coach. The team plays better in front of Martin for whatever reason compared to Demko now.

^ great pep talk and lots of quotes from his one day here. I wonder if he will ever go into coaching ... does TV analyst pay more or does a coach? I know which is less stressful for sure, maybe that's why retired players take on TV analyst. Should be a good vibe night.

What a speech. If Bieksa’s talk about team culture, accountability, and pride as a professional athlete does not light a fire in this team tonight, nothing will.

-really hope that the team cooks the ducks tonight.

Gibson was lucky on that last shot from Hughes. Quinn beat him with a snap shot. Puck went off the right post. Even Gibson looked back towards the net after Hughes shot because he thought that the puck was in the net haha.
