Toyota wait times

Found this on reddit. We are talking almost 4 years for a Rav 4 prime.

Hey all, same post basically. Allocations will be low for this quarter, country wide. Canada has very few units on ground across the country. The U.S also has very few units on ground.

Corolla - 4-5 months

Corolla HB - 5-6 months (Limited allocations)

Corolla Cross - 15 months (No more 2022)

Corolla HV - 15-18 months (No more 2022)

Camry - 6-7 months (Very limited allocations)

Camry HV - 15-18 months (No more 2022)

Prius - 15 months (No more 2022)

Prius Prime - 15 months (No more 2022)

RAV4 - 6-7 months (Limiteds, Trails, TRD OffRoad more than likely will be 2023 models)

RAV4 HV - 15-18 months (No more 2022)

Venza HV - 15-18 months (No more 2022)

BZ4x - 18-24 months (No more 2022)

Highlander - 5-6 months (Platinum and Limited models will more than likely be 2023) - Mid model redesign year for Highlander. 2.4L Turbo (260 HP) and Multimedia system added.

Highlander HV - 18-24 months (No more 2022, 2023 will be tight)

Tundra - 15 months (No more 2022)

Tundra HV - 18-24 months (No more 2022, 2023 will be tight)

4Runner - 6-7 months (Very few Sport/Limited, No more Trail/Pro for 2022)

Tacoma - 5-6 months (No Pro, No Trail, No Premiums - Offroad or Sport)

Sienna HV - 18-24 months (No more 2022, 2023 will be very tight)

RAV4 Prime - Don't even think about it until 2026/7, seriously...

GR86 - 15 months (No more for 2022)

GR Supra - 15 months (No more for 2022)

GR Corolla - You're not getting one this year. (80 for the whole country to share)

I'm taking that with a grain of salt knowing that nobody has released any allocation numbers for the GR Corolla for the US or Canada yet but dealers have been making all kinds of BS up.

Does Toyota allow that? I placed a deposit for a Hyundai Ioniq 5 back in March and they said my spot cannot be transferred...

I believe the Hyundai / Kia waitlists are managed at the corporate level, but I don't think that's the case with Toyota so it's a free-for-all.

i was thinking of the possibility of timing my lease return for an EV, but the way things are with supply, i'm starting to think i'll save myself the stress and buy out my SUV which i know would be well taken care of by me and just be happy with a gas car like the peasant that i am

i do less than 10k kms/year, going to the gas station is like allowing me to get out of the house

been following the EV thread and seems like i really need to put over 20-30k kms/year to justify it, so the supply chain/wait time drama isn't really selling me on EV atm

I started thinking the Supra actually isn't that ugly anymore... and appreciating how fast it is... and that it's coming in manual for 2023... and why I would spend 6 figures+ on a 10 year old 911 when it's like $80k for a brand new Supra

tbh, A90 is a justifiable buy if you don't see it as a "supra" and not in it for supra nostalgia reasons.

its an excellent car.

No one can predict the chip shortage, not even the manufacturers.
Yes there are less chips but manufacturers have already begun adjusting their production numbers so the answer of whether there will be "enough chips" is vague. 500 chips is enough if I cut production from 700 to 500 but if I want to maintain 1000 units then ya, there's a shortage. It all depends how the industry responds with their production numbers.

Bosch just announced a massive investment to further produce their own chips

Some YouTubers have been saying that new car inventories have been returning to normal, but that's not what I'm seeing here. I don't expect the situation to improve until next year at the earliest. Maybe its a sign that we need to shove less garbage tech into cars *shrug*

Yah good luck with that, any manufacturer dares to not put lane changing self stopping shit in a car nowadays and all the mommy's and daddy's who aren't car enthusiasts are like "IT'S NOT SAFE" and cross it off their list.

Stupid is as stupid does. We are a bad sample as car enthuiasts... the only ones who see that stuff a bane.

It doesn't help when manufacturers openly advertise that it's okay to be a negligent retard behind the wheel because the car will save you (and your children's) asses.

I guess putting personal responsibility on individuals has been relegated to a trope.

these "safety" systems are actually making driving less safe

brake hold - creates a habit where you dont keep your foot on the brake at stop lights

blind spot monitoring - creates a habit where you dont shoulder check

backup camera - nobody even turns their head around anymore

adaptive cruise + lane tracing/centering - it gives you warnings to keep your focus on the road and to be alert etc, but thats bullshit. the whole point is to let the damn thing drive itself so you can minimize the fatigue of concentrating.

Edit: you know what would actually improve safety? a friggin manual E brake. i Recall last time when i was sliding out into a stop light during the winter storm of 08' that manual E brake saved my ass. Now all these eletronic bullshit e brakes do nothing other than hold the car when you park.

Back up camera's and back up senors are mandatory because kids where getting run over by parents. You can't see short objects by turning your head around.

https://www.kidsandcars.org/how-kids...urt/backovers/

Quote:
In the U.S. at least fifty children are being backed over by vehicles EVERY week.
The predominant age of victims is one year olds. (12-23 months)
Over 60% of backing up incidents involved a larger size vehicle. (truck, van, SUV)
Tragically, in over 70% of these incidents, a parent or close relative is behind the wheel.
Also many sports cars have shitty rear viability. My car has none.

While I appreciate the manual e-brake for fun reasons, the electronic e-brake does a lot more than you think. Your new car have electronic steering? auto-cruise? those all work together. Take your car out on a quiet highway, let go of the wheel and pull the e-brake. I'll bet your car will slow down to a stop on the shoulder, may even call the hotline for you, they will make sure you are ok. And of course that e-brake button will be available to any passengers that need it

Man, this is so true. You can add Telsa one foot driving on to that list as well, and "auto pilot"
