Naw, I mean in general, not because of Covid.

Cars loans and keeping up with the Jones' have been screwing the avg person since the Model T.

^ not in sales so I can't answer trollface's question from a practitioner's point of view but in the situation that you posed - anywhere, any sector, you cannot 'judge' someone. So to hint that maybe this is above your pay scale and maybe you should get a Corolla instead of a Lexus and not put yourself in a financial hole for 5 years ... well, you get the picture. You can't be the person's parents. You do the best that you can and give him/her all the information, specs and if customer decide to pull the trigger ... so be it.

As for setting customer up for a bad long lease high interest deal ... well, isn't that the finance department person's responsibility?

How do you think you will justify to yourself that you're doing the right thing?

My buddy works finance at Honda and the deals he sees come across the table...60k accords and neg equity up the wazoo. All the sales guys tell themselves if they didn't write the deal, someone else across the street would have and it's not their job to be their mom.

What do you think? No right or wrong answer.
The PA's just construct the deal and it is up to the customer to pull the trigger to purchase the vehicle. At the end of the day, the PA found a right vehicle for their client and the client was OK with the numbers.

You have no idea how dumb some clients can be. I've seen them try to upgrade from a financed 2020 RVR (with huge amounts of negative equity) into a new RAV4. Or there was this other guy who decided to save a couple bucks and bought a pos Kia Sorrento over a Toyota Highlander.

At the end of the day, they approved of the purchase and decided to get themselves into a bad financial spot. I tried to help them but they didn't listen.

You can say this about almost anything and everything in life. Its a dog eat dog world out there. If they dont wanna buy a car they cant afford, or get an horrendous deal they dont have to. Its up to them to do there homework or figure out there own finances. It blows my mind that alot of people out there seemed to have failed Math 8

Which is an interesting thing to think about. Highschool math 12 won't teach you anything about what an APR is. They taught us how to write a chque...which I've done like twice in my life.

Most of what we're taught in HS is pretty useless in everyday life.

Are you referring to this hump?

Think that's the AWD hump which doesn't look present in the GSF based on the carpet shape:

It's still no LC, but it's an interesting alternative with the same motor.

Going slightly back on topic - has a waitlist formed for the upcoming Ioniq 5 N?

Honestly.. it's my pay cheque, I am only there to present the facts and not mislead or hide anything.

My job stops once the client has the ability to make an informed decision.

Yes, I had a client who traded in a 2018 Kia @ 0% financing for a 2012 CLA @ 8.99% with financing interest amounting to over $10K

As long as the client is aware, I am okay with them going thru with the deal.

They didn't show you in Consumer Ed 12 back then?

Mind you, what CE12 showed up back then was extremely simple -- basically just plug your T4 numbers in. I think investment income was limited to bank interests / T5, and maybe also dividends. But again, it was mostly get your T-slips from whoever it was, and plug it into the right box on the tax filing form.

What is Consumer Ed 12? I don't recall such a course to have existed when I was in high school. Or maybe my high school was too poor.

Wtf? Did you go to Harvard or something? They didn't teach us shit.

I've never walked into Costco and Hotdogs were X2+y1=3.

Useless math.

I'm seeing lots of math problems showing up at the local grocery store though.

Guy was pushing a cart loaded with milk the other day.

Just waiting for the one where if you pushed a cart with x number of milk, each milk weighing y. The cart traveled z meters, how many cartons of milk is in it?

We briefly covered taxes, but being highschool kids with maybe one job, no real income or expenses and no dependents none of the complicated stuff applied to us so I definitely didn't pay much attention to it. By the time it was relevant it was long forgotten.

What school did teach me is how to research and learn things on my own. If you didn't learn how to do that after 12 years that's on you.

I think we've proved over the last couple years that WAY too many people believe that they learned that skill, when they most definitely did not.

Harvard? Maybe in another life time.

Consider me a bane to society. I contribute nothing but expect everything handed to me in life!

As a guy in Trades

I use the "useless math" every day.
Everyone told me Math was for Accounting losers

Oh how wrong they were.
Using it for my day job, then using it again for my side gigs trying to calculate Materials and profit margins, payroll.

Fuck.
So glad Calculators exist.

For me, anything that required using that T4 graphing calculator was useless math. The only use i got out of that thing that i was able to install bust a move on it. Made class abit more tolerable.

It's more likely a student run commissary that sold snacks, drinks etc. It's what my school had and it was run by the business class people alongside the special needs class.
