thats like the civic Si that we get here vs the US model.

Ours are apparently more decked out with features vs the stateside "strippers"

But they can still option the cars to the same spec?

For my MS3, the range in the states was much bigger than here. We had no options here but the US models strippers had less things, and the loaded models had more.

The US-spec Si does not get the digital dash or heated seats (unsure about adaptive dampers) and they cannot option the car to get it.

Don't forget heated mirrors, turn signal indicators on mirrors, fog lights

What's everyone asking for this year, for wage bumps?

If inflation was at 6-7% for 2022, im thinking of barking for a 7% raise when I get back to Vancouver. Anything under would essentially be a pay "decrease".

Wages never match true inflation, but we will see what happens

Ask for the moon

This ain't no dogicoin

I got 5% without saying anything, that's at 9 months with this current company.

bcuzracecarz 02-16-2023 06:48 AM

I’m American based company and fiscal year starts April 1st. Typically it’s around 3-5% without asking but might need to push the envelope a bit more this year.

BIC_BAWS 02-16-2023 07:40 AM

I got 10% without saying anything. But we were dealt with a raise freeze in 2022.. so it doesn't really even out.

Bosses said it was due to inflation and I tried to negotiate for more, as more responsibilities increased drastically as well. Oh, and they got rid of paid overtime in 2022. So that sucks.

From what I saw in finance and accounting roles, friends got a standard 3% pay bump without asking nor promotions, so roughly $2.5-3.5K. I got 6.2%, which is also not outpacing inflation. On a retail staff level, I did see a lot of raises north of 10 - 20% but that's going from $18 to $21.5/hr.

Likely need a job hop to get anything remotely more than 10 - 20%

68style 02-16-2023 08:15 AM

Or you can work for the government and get 1% a year and watch everyone bitch about their tax dollars on the news when they report it lol

no real raises in car industry sales as we are commission based.

just sell more cars.

Every year you gotta sell an extra car per month to match inflation haha

Eff-1 02-16-2023 10:36 AM

Vast majority of people aren't getting wage increases relative to inflation. Anything 3% or higher puts you in the lucky category.

Be lucky to have a job in tech at this rate. New layoffs every week.

Yup..it's pretty grim out there.

If history repeats it's self, unemployment will spike in the next x months and the "recession" will finally start

Chart below is missing about a year worth of data, USA is at -0.8 10-2 yield, should be getting very close to the above happening

Recessions feel like a really good time for those are in demand jobs though, high income, and ability to buy cheap stocks or assets on sale!

The salaries have pulled back a bit, but it's still more lucrative than most fields unless you are commission, can do tons of OT, or work for yourself.

Tapioca 02-16-2023 05:11 PM

What is the average annual income (inclusive of any base salary and commissions and other incentives/perks) of someone in car sales anyway? 100K? $120K?

trollface 02-16-2023 05:24 PM

No way AVG is 100. There are 10,000 kids on FB posting dealer cars on their marketplace profiles like they're selling shoes.

bcuzracecarz 02-16-2023 08:07 PM

With car sales, would there be “raises”? Better commission percentages over time? I’ve never really asked or thought about it just curious since I’ve never sold them.
