The whole space thing is annoying. I don't get how in Europe it's a mid size and great family car cause it's not. I drove a friend in my F80 and he's 6'1 and he had to push the seat all the way back and still wasn't the most comfortable. Are everyone in Europe under 6'? There's no way a 6' person would fit in the front seat with a car seat in the back.

People in Europe have to deal with way less room on the street and in parking spots. They are just more efficient in terms of what they're bringing and how they share space. A 3 series is considered a large car there - when I was in Italy I saw a lot of Up! and Polo and that class of car as a family car with 4 people in it.

You just squish everything in. Your legs are touching the dash. You don't manspread like you do in NA.

Much like what JDMDreams say, in Italy you also park by feel. You back up until you bump your neighbours and then go forward etc. Need a little more space? Just push the other car a little bit.

This is how they park in Rome.

Other rental cars seem to hold up okay though. The Versa I had last week with 50k miles looked fine.

I’ve rented other cars in Montreal and they don’t look like this. I had a Durango last Nov and it had more KMs on it, but didn’t look as bad. I still think this bmw paint is crap

I really like the styling of the newest Mazda 3's, especially the hatch's!

Dem Germans are tall too so I don’t know how they fit in this. With two 6’ people up front it turns into a two seater. My sportwagen was packaged better and had way more leg room in the back. I can almost sit behind myself (knees would be in the back of the front seat, but it’s doable for short runs)

I recall sitting in a 2017 5 series and not being impressed with the rear leg room. Almost had the same problem as the sportwagen.

the mazda will look even better with one size up on the wheels, but that's personal perference, it is hot.

dark0821 04-04-2023 08:40 PM

^Interesting, I would say the current size on the Mazda3 is perfection.

Unless he is doing camber and hella flush style (which is not really my cup of tea anymore, hahahaha), then maybe he can do 1 size bigger lolol

You want some tire on it, like the FK8 IMO look the best with 18s, slightly worse on 19s, but pls no stock 20s, or change to another set of 20s lololol

I dont even like the rubber bands on exotics, I get the stiffer/smaller side wall and rim is lighter than tire argument, but yea...

Is the newer boxster worth buying? I rented the 987.2 last time when I was LA and it was not worth it lol.

Why would you say it's not worth it? Did you get to drive it in any canyons?

The 987 and 981 generations really excelled in 2 areas:

- handling
- high rpm performance

In a typical street setting, it isn't a super powerful car that can give you an adrenalin rush. To enjoy it for what it is, you really need to put it in the right setting where it can shine.

The latest generation with the turbo 4's are quite different. There is still not much torque below the 2.5 - 3k rpm range before the turbo spools up, but once you get that turbo spooling, it pulls very nicely all the way up to redline in the way you'd expect a 300 - 350hp car would. In that sense, that much stronger torque makes it a lot more usable and a lot more fun in everyday situations.

I haven't driven the newest gen car with the NA flat 6, so I can't give you any first hand description of what the car is like. According to other people, the midrange torque isn't as strong as the turbo 2.5L, but it has a much nicer high end. I hope I'd be able to get behind the wheel of one to see for myself.

I've been out of the country for most of the month of March. Went to South Africa (Kruger National Park and then Cape Town) and stopped in Italy on the way home. I'm still going through the photos but I'll post when I'm done.

In typical bmw fashion this 3 series broke lawl (not serious, just a puncture on the front driver side tire). Avis road side assistance told me 5+ hours wait due to Montreal’s crazy freezing rain event this week so they suggested I just drive on it. I said that’s nuts (they are using some chinese snow tire brand called far road ?!?!? And I don’t think they are runflats ) so I replaced it this morning with another bmw.

530xi.

Not bad, but it feels exactly the same thing as the 330i. It’s only a tad bit larger but the interior and driving experience is identical.
The rear seats are actually usable but otherwise nothing special. Gauge cluster is cool though, got this torque and Hp indicator. This sucker had 400ftlbs of torque ! And 320hp.

Not bad, but I don’t think it’s worth the extra 10-20k over the 330i.

When the lady pulled this up, I thought it was the same car.

The only perk/downside of driving this around Montreal is the gold diggers come straight up to you. I was eating Schwartz and this crazy French lady asked me if I wanted a blow job to go with my smoke meat. She waited right outside the damn car.

radeonboy 04-06-2023 12:55 PM

Sounds like you should clean those seats in the car :lol

JDMDreams 04-06-2023 01:07 PM

^^^ pics or it didn't happen, what happens in Montreal stays in Montreal:ifyouknow:

Meat you at Schwartz next time?

Oh wait...:inoutugh:

Badhobz 04-06-2023 01:39 PM

That area around Schwartz is kinda scummy. Not surprised all the wackos are there.
Also the average Montreal car is a pos versa or a Yaris. I guess with their roads and winter weather, it just kills the cars so it doesnt make any sense to drive a luxury car.

She wasn’t very pretty. Otherwise I’d be tempted

The aggressive ones never are. Or so that’s what I’ve heard anyway..

Well actually a couple solid 7’s hit our table up pretty hard in Whistler once. I’m so oblivious I thought they were just drunk and friendly party chicks. When they finally left my buddies tipped me off that they were pros lol
