Did you do it in person ? Over the phone they won’t play ball. You gotta be physically present and with a cheque book in hand to show you’re serious.

You expect someone to show up with a briefcase full of 40k in hundreds? That's a bit unrealistic lol.

The stereotypical band of hundreds is $10k, so you wouldn't even fill a suitcase. Fuck counting through 400 bills or trying to deposit that after though.

Years ago my friend won a Toyota FJ and decided to sell it. The buyer met them at the Petro Canada at Victoria and 49th to check out the car and literally had a garbage bag of cash on him (I think it was worth around $35k). My friend insisted on going over to the bank to have it counted.

anything over 10g of cash, you'd have to fill out forms with CRA.

at least on the dealer level.

The real boss transaction I had was a fellow wiring money on his notebook to us on the spot. Funds received by end of the day too.

none of the dealers I sat in front of in the fall wanted cash offers anyways. any deals to be had would involve their financing kickbacks.

i could see them drawing up little 4 squares in their minds.

once that was off the table it was pretty much asking price only.

cash is dead - rent everything and skim a little off the top each time.

Was this always the case or was that recent? I recall people buying with cash all the time back in the days.

I never had an issue paying cash until 2007 with my denali. I gave the seller cash at the bank, bank manager Karen made a scene. I told her to pull up my account, I had nothing to hide.

I sold an nsx for USD cash back when dollar was par, and my street/strip suv for cash not long ago. But I don't deposit it all in one shot, not giving anybody a reason to question me.

You have to watch out on personal e transfers, even tho you get the notification of funds sent they can still cancel on you the same day. I'm not an expert on this, I don't use it with strangers.

There's two different emails you would receive depending on if you have autodeposit set up. If you don't have autodeposit, it will ask you where you want to deposit it. If you do, you'll receive one saying that it has automatically been deposited into your account.

To my knowledge if you get the latter email, there's no way to cancel it as it has already reached your account. In general, when dealing with e-transfers on FB Marketplace (non-car related), I only deal with people banking with RBC/TD because their transfers go through the second after you click send. Whereas other banks take 30-40 mins to go through - giving the buyer a chance to cancel it still.

I just found this one: https://www.cbc.ca/news/gopublic/etr...erac-1.6764431

What I mentioned still stands.

She saw that he sent it to her and saw the confirmation from his phone. It doesn't mean the bank pulled it out of her account because it had yet to be deposited into her account. Because of the delay it takes banks (other than RBC/TD) to process e-transfers, he probably went ahead and canceled it when he got back in the car.

I feel e-transfer is still safer than cash as long as the seller banks with RBC/TD and that you have autodeposit set up.

I just go to the bank with the person. To be perfectly honest I haven't sold or bought many cars, and the only big dollar car was the e30, but I sure as shit am not risking having over 10k in cash on me as a buyer or seller.

9.8L/100km in sport transmission, but ACC the entire way. Did a 84km drive just now, I guess the car doesn't count short stops as a stop. I did a few pulls and then just set eco mode + ACC and it averages 11.8L/100km.

Relatively, the FK8 does around 7.5L/100KM when I'm behaving. And when I have a heavy foot and do pulls, it's around mid to high 9s.
