Usually every 3 weeks as I park it indoors - more if it's been outside a lot. In the summer it's a foam cannon and in the winter it's ONR (rinse less) or a touchless if it's really dirty. ONR is faster and I could do it during the summer as well but I enjoy the deeper clean of a foam wash (getting into nooks and crannies more). Twice a year I do a decontamination wash that includes IronX etc (I'm ceramic coated).

My kid is getting old enough that I'm starting to feel like I don't have to rush my washes anymore and I can take my time - for a while it was just doing the bare minimum as we had other things to do.

ITT: People are offended @ a high milage S2k.

Most cars don't have 250k, even fewer sports cars don't have 250k. Not sure what ya'll are mad about.

It might, if one dumps $250K into it

In fairness to trollface, my 2004 Mini Cooper S has over 325,000KM on it, which is very surprising considering all the dodgy history of repairs, parts, number of owners (6+) and so on.

some of them are approaching 25 years, there are ones at half a million km's
adequate oil lvl, the odd valve clearance check and chain tensioner if it gets noisy and it'll keep going

996: 220k kms
E36: 228k kms (142k miles)
Corrado1: 209k kms
Corrado2: 229k kms
GTI: 262k kms

Nothing wrong with it - all relatively low miles per year really. Time's a bigger factor than mileage - all of these cars suffer more from brittle plastics than worn mechanicals

Thread content - went to pick up my car this morning at my aunt's house - found it parked behind a 91 Blue spektrum e-Golf. 1 of 4 made in this colour.

Spektrum was available for e-Golf and R in Canada.

Back on topic: manifold didn't blow up and the rain held off. Good day yesterday. (Feels much better in the midrange after the tune, really good power).

EDIT: Corrected as per The Producer

yes. the spektrum program actually started w Canadian e-Golfs. the take up was pretty small (104 total cars) but they were tooled up so they brought it to the R's also for the 7.5's

Pretty interesting back story actually. Couple of enthusiastic VW north america execs got involved. You don't see that as often as you used to.

Production breakdown by year/model/country/colour. There's a very active group that tracks these cars.

no GTI's. The Rabbit edition special colours (cornflower blue) were not part of the spektrum program and were not hand painted away from the production line like the spektrum cars

To my knowledge we all blow up around 220 - 300,000KM and a replacement F20 is like $15-20K installed used. K swap is also $15K used, labour in.

But that's really good considering most S2000's are redlined 10-20x a day for 20 years.

I was at the event too! I heard you mentioned back in the parking that it was starting to have issues. Hopefully you were able to make it home driving through the city instead of towing

Thanks Traum for the photos
