They're just gonna say something hit it and broke. It's impossible really to prove otherwise.

I think this is going to be the last straw for us and this car - it's just been horribly unreliable in just 40,000km (3 sets of brakes, control arms replaced, blower motor replaced, rear hatch springs, pano room frame etc). Not sure what we're going to replace it with - was hoping to hold out long enough for an EV or a good PHEV. Maybe we'll get something used to tide us over. | Hop on the BMW bandwagaon |

Ugh... sorry to see that you got hit by this known issue. I had looked into that generation of RDX before, and was really surprised by how this could even be a common/known problem with the vehicle.
If the warranty route doesn't work -- there is no harm in trying / asking -- would your comprehensive insurance cover it?
With the way Model Y's are priced right now, if you wife qualifies for the $9k rebate, I'd say that's the first vehicle that comes to mind if you were looking for a replacement.
Good luck with the repairs and selling plans! Quote:

Good luck with the repairs and selling plans! | Good tip on ICBC - will try that as a backup plan. I'm guessing if Acura won't cover it that it'd be about a $1500 job (3.5 hours of labour according to Acura plus parts) re: Tesla, I don't think I can stomach owning an Elon product even if the price is great.
Anyone know a good Honda salesperson in Burnaby/Van/Richmond? CR-V Hybrid might be top of my list if I go new.

go get a used lexus RX 2018+. the one with the 2GR-FKS v6 or the 450h.
it'll be cheaper to run than your RDX while bigger and much more luxurious. It'll also be significantly quieter than anything you are cross-shopping. It has laminated acoustic glass so its silent inside. Try and find one thats built in Japan (most were built in canada, but its not that bad, just the JVIN's are better) so that means any 350L or 450hL as those were all japanese made.
It'll be cheaper than your new CRV for sure.

If waiting for CR-V hybrid going to be your option?Or just the hybrid route in general
Maybe Tucson Hybrid? (The PHEV version is impossible to get), or if can do something bigger, CX-90
CR-V are fantastic, just Honda pricing recently are... well.. not friendly?
For EV route - if Model Y is not an option (Ioniq 5 or Mach E? or Kia EV6?) Personally I would still do Model Y just due to price point, but there is a reson why Ioniq 5 cleans up at comparison reviews etc etc....
Maybe too small, but the brand new Kona EV 2024 can also be a contender... I would say bigger than the NX for sure, trunk is smaller than RAV4 or CRV, though leg room/passenger space would be comparible to the RAV4 and CRV

I'm considering the N but probably more than I'd be willing to spend now (I'm on your wait list).
I might consider a Tuscon Hybrid (I'll shoot you a note if I do) - don't love the styling though.
Gonna take a look at a CX-50 Turbo - the price diff between that and a CR-V Hybrid (probably $6-7 after negotiation) might make me overlook the gas consumption. If I go used I was thinking a CX-5 Turbo or maybe I'll look at a used RX like Hobz suggest.

RX 4 the win. Its way more comfortable and quiet inside than the competitors.
The new RXs however are pieces of shits that arent even worth your time. 4 banger, first year production so loads of issues (fuel flap not even aligning, brand new UI, brand new inline 4 turbo, uses premium, etc)
The old ones, especially 2020+ after the mid cycle refresh are the best ones to get (toyota fixes all their niggles and small problems that arent worthy of a recall / TSB in these middle cycle refreshes). Ultra reliable v6, uses regular gas, awd w/ cross climate 2 and you'll laugh at everyone else in winter.
Dont get the pano roof if you can. read about some issues there with leaks and potential sunshade not retracting/breaking (i didnt take my own advice as we got one loaded to the tits). My wife's 2018 RX has been bulletproof but it had a few squeaks and rattles that i was able to remedy with some foam (thanks to the canadian built bullshit).

I wonder if they've replaced the steering wheel with one that heats up 360. Mazda has done their wheels where it only heats up on 3 and 9 o'clock which is weird as hell. Quote:

. | Ofc I knew that lol... my bad hahaha.....
honestly losing track tbh, can probably unload 10 Ioniq 5 N in the next 10min if I was given the allocation.
Yea, we all think it will be a $85-90K out the door car all said and done... but at that point... our own Ioniq 5 luxury twin... GV60 is like the same price... and maybe we will be brushing used Taycan / Audi e-tron GT territory...
Though I am actually very curious how it will drive... with the fake gearing and all that...

A $90k Hyundai compact crossover SUV lmao, only in 2023.
You can literally buy any brand including Mercedes for compact SUV's and the life time of gas at that price. BRB buying a loaded GLA, extended warranty, ppm, 10 years of fuel and I'm still under $90k.

Between a GLA45 with 0 options is 77K out the door for a slower car. The $13K will get you 5 years' worth of fuel not counting maintenance?
The model Y Performance is 88K out the door, so you know... unfortunately that's where things are at. And the Ioniq 5 is faster with more features. just saying...
Do I think an Ioniq 5 N at about 90K out the door is crazy? Yes and no, we live in a world where the BMW X5 base starts at $86,000 (not including freight and PDI)

Someone buying an electric Hyundai isn't looking for high performance like the AMG motor and sports suspension etc. You are mixing up two different types of buyers. They are looking for fuel/service savings and comfort. So once I take a full spec GLA250, add every single option, ppm, max the extended MB warranty and buy everything the business office has to sell I actually probably have 20 years of fuel on the house before I hit $90k.
I've been stealing so much business from Japanese, Korean, and domestic makes because everyone thinks their cars are worth more than they really are. It is still a Hyundai at the end of the day and a $90k one at that.
Not trying to start a pissing match honestly. It is just wild where the industry currently is at for a lot of brands.
