Which years did BMW have an LCI on this model?

roastpuff 11-17-2023 08:37 AM

2011 and up iirc. The 135i receives a DCT as well.

headhunt3r 11-17-2023 08:59 AM

With the top up it's pretty quiet even at highway speeds. I've been looking for a wind deflector for when I don't need the back seats and I can have the top down. Supposedly it's quiet enough for an easy conversation with it on. I think the roof is all just cables above me if anything breaks? I haven't read about anyone getting squirted from a broken roof yet.

Badhobz 11-17-2023 09:06 AM

So the 1 series window regulator broke (again, this is the 3rd time) and I’m at the dealership today getting it fixed. Apparently they don’t stock many of these old parts anymore so it’ll be a week before the part comes in. In the meantime the bloody window can’t close fully.

Typical bmw fun. 472 bucks for this part and 2h of labor. Joy

While I was here I figure I give myself cancer by looking at this m2. What the fuck……

Wow...freight / PDI at $3,700 is a big jump from what I'm familiar with.

Dbone 11-17-2023 11:14 AM

It's actually gone up even more for 2024. It's $3995 for 7,8 series, X7, M Cars, and Hybrids and Ecars.
Also the base price is $1k more for 2024.

Red brakes for $750 and M seatbelts for $400 seem like a waste of money though.

Also, I find it difficult to actually see what shadowline headlights are. Just less chrome in the housing or something?

Badhobz 11-17-2023 11:21 AM

Twitchy where are you going first of all and secondly do they still
Make parts for that Suzuki if it ever goes tits up ?

To the few ppl looking to replace their rdx in the last few pages, 2024 cx5 is really good. Recently helped a family member cross shop in that segment and ended up with a cx5.

Pros:
NA 2.5 with 6 speed auto is a bit behind on technology but it is near bulletproof, and much more satisfying to drive than the CVT all the competitors use. The top of the line 2.5L turbo isn't very reliable.

They have really refined the Cx5 over the years, engine and trans combo is buttery smooth, NVH is the best in class, only thing quieter than this lexus or electric car. Cx5 uses acoustic windshield and front windows as well.

All cx5s are made in Japan, freight is $2095

Interior material/quality: Dare I say this is an entry level luxury car once you sit in, very German esque from the choice of material and better than the competitors.

Easier to get, they have haulers dropping new stocks every once in a while as long as you are not picky about color or trim otherwise you gotta place deposit and wait. Good luck finding a Rav4 or lexus. I'm pretty sure CRVs are in stock but that turbo and cvt combo is a big deterrent.

This gen was introduced back in 2017, they refined it over the years with some minor tweaks here and there. If you ask me, it still looks modern both inside and out so it will definitely age well for years to come

Only con I noticed is the competitors have larger interior space, so if this is important for you then Rav4 or crv will be better buys

The cx5 gs is a really great value if you don't need all the bells and whistles

Out the door price, a cx5 gs is 43k, crv and rav4 are 47 to 50k already

If you are financing/leasing, mazda has better 3 yr rate at 4.45 compared to the 7 ish competitors have

I like the new M2.

Drives like 9/10 looks like 7/10.

I'd take that compromise any day.

JDMDreams 11-17-2023 02:29 PM

But they cost like 2 golf RS, 2/10 :troll::joy:

jpark 11-17-2023 02:29 PM

I had the opporunity to drive the new m2 at a M driving experience circuit track in Korea. The car drives extremely well like its on rails. Its oversteer happy if you want it to be, its chunky but feels small. ZF Gearbox has lightning quick upshifts and really good gearing., The downshifts kinda sucked. not as crisp as DCT cars from before. Almost like putting an oldschool PRND to 3-2-1 feel. Felt pretty wack in terms of that.

I actually like the looks. Just dont think the baby blue is a good color on this car. Black or Red and they look stunning

that body style was sold as late as 2018 in some markets so the old local dealers that got converted to sell kia/mitsubishi can still get oem parts from japan aka feels like servicing an old nsx

used rear diff shipped from AB

Yeah, I just got back from a test drive of a 2024 CX-5 Signature and it's still a lovely car to drive. Looks good, drives nice, feels good. The back seat is, unfortunately, just too small for us. It's an easy car to love though. Even my mom's first gen CX-5 drives pretty nice (other than a really long brake pedal) too - it's a very wholesome car.

Wife didn't like the CX-50's seats (it's got this weird stitching down the middle of the seat bottom that was uncomfortable for her) and she felt the CR-V was too much of a downgrade in amenities (she noted the rather sad and tiny sunroof in particular).

The CX-90 was more to her tastes (it has peasant blockers in the back!) but too big so the CX-70 PHEV might still be top of the list at the end of the day as long as it's not also too big.

Like stunningly awful ? I can forgive the front but the ass is horrible. Completely over styled for no reason

i was just riding past a navy blue one and it looked absurdly long; not my first time seeing them

if only the 70 phev will come with i6, i can't stomach paying premium class for 4cyl

Traum 11-17-2023 03:22 PM

I can't get over the fact that the latest M2 is almost as heavy as the M4.

I haven't driven the M2 yet, but I have driven the M4. While it does a good job of hiding its weight, there is no getting around the fact that it is heavy.

And as I was saying before, this is where I found Mercedes / AMG to have done a much better job at engineering their recent cars than BMW has. Those AMG C63 are heavy too, but it does a much better job than BMW in masking its weight.

red kryptonite 11-17-2023 09:40 PM

i gotta admit the m2 is not a looker stock... but throw on a few mods and :fullofwin:

That fat ass rear wing seems to balance out the back end quite a bit. But that’s still a monstrosity vs the previous gorgeous m2.

Weirdly they said my 1series was ugly too when it was released. Looked bulbous. That mid cycle refresh did help clean up the design and streamline it but it still wasn’t a good looking car. This new m2 takes the cake though. Not m4 ugly or IX but still horrible.

looks are subjective but yes the blue looks awful on it

even if i feel the taillights look chintzy, potential buyers in the future will look back and see it lightweight then as an ICE manual bavarian box

it'll have its mopar wing or 996 eggyolk allure one day

trollface 11-18-2023 10:11 AM

I love it, reminds me of a german datsun 510.

I am super biased, but 2024 Tucson lol, we even have Hybrid coming towards year end.

Very competitive pricing for gas or hybrid model lol
