This premiere could go in two ways.

https://www.carscoops.com/2023/01/20...st-or-all-new/

The GT-R could be updated with a new engine OR be the brand new GT-R with new design and engine.

-from the article above:

The 2024 version of the car that first went on sale in 2007 will be announced at the Tokyo Auto Salon at 8 PM EST on January 12 (10 AM on the 13th for those in Japan).

Nissan’s YouTube channel will transmit the unveiling from Nissan’s main stage at Makuhari Messe where the car will be presented by Nissan COO Ashwani Gupta and chief vehicle engineer, Takashi Kawaguchi. That will be followed 3.5 hours later by a less formal, but possibly more in-depth introduction to the 2024 GT-R, again viewable live on YouTube, but this time featuring Kawaguchi, chief powertrain engineer Naoki Nakata, and brand ambassador Hiroshi Tamura.

That much we know, but what’s not so clear is exactly what the team will be presenting. Although it’s no secret that Nissan is working on an all-new electrified GT-R, we’re not expecting to see that until later in the decade.

So the 2024 car is almost certainly yet another mild makeover of the existing car, though we’d be delighted to be proved wrong.

Nissan doesn't have enough money to reinvent any wheels.

That's why the 400Z is basically just a rehash.

Badhobz 01-12-2023 09:11 AM

Poor Nissan.. They've really got hosed with this Renault merger

I think super unlikely to be more than a mild refresh. Would love to be wrong, but otherwise you'd see a lot more news about testing and prototypes spotted and that sort of thing.

learnt from Porsche.

Same chasis, more aero, tiny engine tweak, Special Edition, extremely Limited Production model

Spectre_Cdn 01-12-2023 12:49 PM

So uh… until there’s a new GT-R, the RS banner is going to remain the same as 2007?

tofu1413 01-12-2023 12:58 PM

seems to be more of an aero tweak / slight refresh.

will be going for absurd money like the T spec though.

Like, I was browsing RS when the mobile web version came out, on my Nokia E71, in the basement of the Koerner library at UBC. Back then the GT-R was fresh and became the banner. 15 years later it’s still there :ahwow:

And we’re all still here :inoutugh:

tofu1413 01-12-2023 02:02 PM

well some of us.

I feel traffic here on RS reduced by 75% compared to around the 2010's

IIRC, it was just “Revscene.net” like the stickers, and some Matrix-looking cabling background. There used to be a homepage and the forums were a subpage.

asian_XL 01-12-2023 04:05 PM

same old r35 with new bumper and body kit ...blah....

pastarocket 01-12-2023 04:21 PM

The new Nissan GT-R. (Japan market)

Slight changes in the car to improve aerodynamics.

An R35 Nismo and the standard R35 for 2024.

-smaller grille and same amount of air intake according to one of the Nissan staff presenting the car.

new edge design around the trunk lid? :considered:

Man it feels like more than even that!

Most car forums (not all, but most) seem to be the same. I guess the game has moved on to reddit/discord/whatever the car people use nowadays.

Badhobz 01-12-2023 04:58 PM

Its revealed. Just a bleh refresh.

13min mark

radeonboy 01-12-2023 07:54 PM

Those fog lights on the bumper look like warts, kinda looks stuck on.

dark0821 01-12-2023 09:11 PM

Looks worse... now where is the update from Gran Turismo lolol

Badhobz 01-12-2023 09:37 PM

Man Nissan really don’t have any money left. 400z and this GTR just proves it. They need a huge cash infusion or else this might just be the end of the brand. So damn sad.
