https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FrmoikHX...jpg&name=small I tried to like the Verstappens, but this pretty much sums up why it's so hard to route for them. |
max can't catch checo - driveshaft must be broken max sets fastest lap - driveshaft must have self healed AND scumbag RB trying to slow Checo down? the only reason to even pay attention to them this year will be watching this play out. PS: Alonso places (eventually, WTF FIA?) and Stroll DNF. :ilied: |
Fuck the Verstappens, Jos can't even be happy that his son got 2nd lol |
sigh |

and dirt bag RB trying to slow down checo, good for him on calling them out on it and not slowing down. then he even asked Max in the waiting room about keeping pace, Max just straight up says no and goes for the fastest lap max's head has gotten too big not a fan any more.....go Checo and Alonso. |
does Danny Ric go to the races? he is the reserve driver right? you got Mick Schumacher hanging on to Toto's nut sack standing beside him every race. |
Oh they reversed the penalty, Fernando gets his podium back! Sorry I am way behind when I don't get to watch live |
Perez is pretty naive to think that Max wouldn't have pushed for a fastest lap. |
I missed some of the race how was RB trying to get Checo to slow down? I'm not even sure what Max and his Dad are upset about, do they expect Checo to just pull over everytime Max is behind him? |

they asked Checo to slow his pace reddit is telling me that if you listen to all the team radio (you can) that they also told Max to slow his pace. He wouldn't acknowledge the instruction despite multiple requests (and didn't slow down) Had Checo done what he was told, Max would have closed some distance (though not enough to catch him). Optics? soft team orders to see what happens when there are real ones? Trying to save the cars? All of that sounds like micro strategy and none of that sounds like racing. I don't know what the psychology is here. I think for Max (and Jos LOL) if you're not first you're last. RB will have to spend a considerable amount of resources just managing their drivers. Quote:

The radio exchange between Verstappen and the team about fastest lap was funny. max: what's the time for the fastest lap? team: we aren't concerned about that right now max: but I am. |
I think it's pretty safe to say that Checo is clearly considered the #2 driver by Red Bull, and that's how they treat him (This was probably even expressed to him when he signed his contract) That might upset Checo fans, but at least it pretty much stamps out the LeClerc/Sainz or Hamilton/Rosberg drama that happened in previous years. |
I'm sure Checo knows he's considered #2 but it's either play second fiddle to Max or have no drive on the grid. Which is a shame because he's a terrific driver. |
I just hope Checo has a dominant car all season and is right there (as close as one can be at this point) to Max since he's the only one at this point that can offer any sort of competition |
Let's be honest, Checo is never outperforming Max on actual pace over a weekend. Mechanical issues, unlucky damage from other competitors, or Strategy blunders on Max's side is basically Checo's only shot at ever finishing above max. |
Would have been so nice if Max crashed on the last lap trying to get fastest lap Unfortunately there's no justice in this world |
Think the way max is driving right now and with this car, RB knows max is going to want every win. If this race was 10 more laps almost a certainty max would have passed him they will have to eventually just cater to him as him alone could probably win both a constructors and a drivers championship with What’s fucking crazy about the RB’s is how fast they are even without DRS, like those 2 laps after the safety car with no DRS max is still clawing his way through the pack with very little effort. |
I wish the Formula 1 YouTube channel highlights had Croftly calling the race instead of the default F1 commentators |

The team told both drivers to target 33.0's. Max just disobeyed and ran 32.6's. When Checo's engineer realized this, he told Checo he could push. Really it was just Max's selfishness popping up again (although, he's a ruthless competitor hungry for his 3rd championship, so I don't blame him for trying as some would), but this narrative that the team intentionally fucked Checo over by telling him to run slower is far juicier What's also funny on that transcript is Checo basically whining to the team trying to make sure the positions stayed as they were. I hate that shit, I would have loved to have seen a last lap shootout for 1st place between the two if it was possible. Not because I really care for Max or hate Checo, but because I care for exciting racing, first and foremost. |
Checo's "whining" was they they told him to slow pace. what's the first thing that's going to run through your head when you're leading a race and your beast/dick head of a team mate is the next guy behind you and has the ability to catch if you slow down. don't blame checo at all he has to plan on 1) team telling him to slow down for max 2) team telling both of them to slow down, save the car and keep positions and max just not listening either way, checo needs to drive for checo in these types of scenarios when he's ahead, full out. |
I think that it's amazing that Max goes from jeddah to immediately sitting on his race simulator to game with his gaming team buddies and wins 11 simulator races, the guys just the biggest raving nerd. He's like the guys in the computer labs back in school, except he also drives an F1 car :lol |
