Oilers suffer their 8th postseason loss in franchise history when holding a 3-goal lead. That's the most by any team in the history of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Mcdavid's 1st career playoff game without a shot on goal.
Canucks didn't make any moves right before TDL, but their two moves are both looking solid. Closet Playoff performers. Who would have suspected based on their reg season performance.

Making history tonight.
I may have misheard, but Edmonton was 23-0-0 when entering the 3rd period with at least a 2 goal lead this season? If that's true... wow.

Oilers sat back in the third period to try to protect their lead.
That strategy blew up in their faces hahah.
Stuart Skinner is awful. Five goals on twenty four shots. He admitted to reporters after the game that he really wanted that Garland goal back hahaha.
I like what Elliott’s Freedman said about our team.
The team maintained their defensive structure. No panic in their game. Played the way Tocchet coaches them. When things were bad, they stuck with their attention to defence and forecheck.

That comeback game against the Preds mean so much... This Canuck team has to be going into games believing they can come back and tie the game even if there's 3 seconds left on the clock. No sense of panic. Down a few goals, we'll come back. Been there, done that.

Shockingly, I was poking around in the other Canadian team's HFboard threads.
Seems like all the other fanbases are either neutral or actually cheering for the Canucks.
I guess they're all sick of all the attention McDrai get and Canucks are actually the underdogs, unlike in 2011.
Maybe people are naturally attracted to drama and it's funny watching a supposedly "cup contending" team implode.

it's all self inflicted. despite how shitty we've played, we've still managed to get two goals. hopefully they can claw back here in the 3rd.
Canucks proved me right
what a fucking game! I was busy at work during the third period. imagine my surprise when i checked the score and it was 5-4 with about 3mins left in the game
I literally had a moment of "is this real life?" Holy fucking shit.

I'm still in utter shock with what happened last night, I had a feeling there could be a come back since they were controlling the place but had some crappy goals scored on them. I saw the interview with Skinner after and he went out of his way saying the Canucks have beat them 5 times this season so far. I knew right away that the Canucks are in the heads of the Oilers players and Fridays game is so important to come off strong and for them to win so they can see more doubt.

A game 2 win would be huge for our team. Like what Skinner said about his team losing 5 straight times to our team, the Coilers are showing signs of mental weakness in their game.
Go Canucks go! Keep winning games in order to live rent free in the heads of Oilers' players.
hahaha yah I watched Skinner's post-game too... I will give him credit for not giving generic responses and having a good sense of humour, but I think he needs to read the room a little... could come off as him not taking responsibility or thinking lightly of stuff.
I like when the reporter said that Drai said he'd rather lose 8-1 so he can just forget abouit and he was like "Yah Leon is right... that wouldn't be good for me obviously.. but he's right" ahahaha like that's funny stuff but I kinda want my goalie to be MAD after that loss not joking around with reporters.
I haven't seen a replay of Suter (?) handling the puck, did he actually close his hand on it? They all acted like he did, but in real-time I thought he just batted it out of the zone.
I did see the refs miss a hand pass out of our zone at one point, but LOL what would that have changed? They would have lost the faceoff anyway.
If anyone should be beefing it should be not calling boarding on Hyman hitting Hughes in the beginning of the game or the late icing, the Edmonton dman slowed up his stride/stopped skating so obviously waiting for it to cross the line, it's crazy that wasn't waved off!
Fucking Toronto! I get in my car this morning and all they are talking about on AM 650 is Keefe getting canned and who a replacement could be. Then on Sportsnet, the front page is all Leafs.
