I'd probably never even mention it until someone started crying about the reffing or told me how much they hate the oilers. People have a knack when it comes to starting conversations they don't want to be a part of when sports are involved.

id rather just no canadian teams win until its the canucks. it doesnt make me proud to be canadian to have edmonton win. most teams have mostly canadian players anyway (except the nucks this year). it has no effect on my 'pride'. i actually don't hate the oilers even though they beat the canucks but evander kane just rubs me the wrong way and i'm happy to just see the smile disappear from his face anytime i can lol. guys a scumbag.
Well sports and politics are really the only thing people are actually passionate about lol. Also sports are one of the few things in our world that can write stories you only find in fictional novels.
I respect anyone’s fandom for another team, would never take anything away from an individual fan, but fuck the team in general lol. I don’t even care whether there’s Canadian players on the team etc. that’s irrelevant. Could be full of the red army team, as long as we win that’s all that matters.
When I went to game 5 in Vancouver I had to run upstairs to use bathroom because of the insanely long lines and there were a couple oilers fans behind me, we had a good convo back and forth about the game, then some other clown walks by them and he’s like “what is this??? The fag zone?!? Fucking fag zone over here!!!”
I’m like lol fuck bro, relax ya fucking clown

I can't fathom why any Canadian would cheer for the fucking Dallas Stars, or the Panthers, playing out of a state that doesn't even see ice anytime of the year.
Fuck outta here.
Oilers have a Canadian generational talent the likes of Gretsky, they will always get my cheers while they're in the playoffs.
You don't have to understand why, just know that everyone is allowed to cheer for whatever team they want regardless if it's a Canadian.
I think the only other Canadian team I've ever cheered for was Montreal. That was a wild ride a few years ago.

Meh I don't get the whole Canadian pride thing thinking we should cheer for a team just because they are a Canadian franchise, I'll wait until the next Olympics to cheer for Canada if I'm looking to feel patriotic about hockey.

Like wise... it's not the Olympics. So I feel really indifferent about it using that line of logic. I never saw Edmonton representing Canada. They're representing Edmonton Oilers.

Boeser totally, but I don't know why anyone is mentioning demko after Silovs play. I think he played better than most other goalies in the playoffs. I was hoping he'd put on a fake moustache and sub in for skinner for this round lol.
People said Canucks would have played differently with Demko in net. He's trusted to make big saves and would allow Canucks to take more chances offensively. Canucks adjusted their game to "shelter" Silovs... Not that Silovs played poorly at all. He exceeded every expectation anyone had. But there are some shots from the point that maybe Demko would have made.
At the end of the day, we are comparing a fringe NHL goalie on heater vs literally one of the top 3 goalies in the league. It does change the psyche of the players.
Personal opinion, Canucks could have "goalied" 1 more win out of the series with Demko in net, especially how tight 5 (maybe 6) of the 7 games were.

Patterson’s question to Hronek about “why was it that the second half of the season your play curtailed? Is it because of injury?”
Hronek answered bluntly “ you named it. First half of the season I was producing. Second half I was not.”
“Why? If I knew the answer, I would do something different.”
“Well, we have been giving you space all year. We just need you to answer a few questions.”
“Well, what do you want me to say?”
“What do we want me to say?? If you say if I have injury, I said NO.”
Patterson needs to accept the answer from Hronek. Hronek said that he does not have an injury.
Not using an injury as an excuse, because he does not have an injury.
I mean, the defenceman just finished playing a game 7 two days ago. Does Patterson expect Hronek to give a complete critique of his game for the entire season? These things take time for players to step back and think about in terms of their game.
English is Hronek’s second language so if his answers across as overly blunt and negative, then I think that some of it has to do with a bit of a language barrier.
Heck, if I was in Hronek’s shoes and Patterson asked me that same question , I would answer “ Jeff, I don’t have an answer about my second half performance now. These things take time for reflection. I don’t know. I do not have an injury.”
However, Hronek is ESL so he may not be as articulate with his answer the way that Patterson would like it to be.
Vancouver media haha. Hronek may come across as difficult from this media Q and A .
Patterson comes across as a douchebag reporter haha. :

I have to disagree here. JPat is one of the most polite, well versed and fair reporters we have. All he did was ask Hronek to share some insight into why his play differed so greatly between the first and second half of the season. Hronek offered zero insight and his facial expression, body language and words were all extremely defensive for a guy who has avoided the media all season long. Sure, you can chalk it up to ESL but if you watch the whole clip you can tell he knew it was a bad look and started answering subsequent questions with more thought other than just a curt "No".
Even if he plays well with Hughes and his teammates love him, I would trade him if he's seriously asking for $8M.
He’s a good player but maybe just not a people person. Fiery personalities can often bring success in the sports world. It gives them that competitive edge.
That said, let him walk and give that $ to Zadorov if we can’t afford both.

The last thing we need is unnecessary drama in the locker room next season but putting his crappy attitude aside, I don't think he's worth what he's asking for. It's too risky for the Canucks to lock themselves into a massive contract when there are other players they need to sign.
