Tanev had said in a recent interview that his desire was to return to the Canucks, it always was. He felt insulted that there was no real offer from management at the time and/or it came too late for him to take it seriously. He's another player who thought they would play their entire careers here and management simply dropped the ball. Thank you Jim...

I'm curious to see who they add at this point whether that's Tanev or another right shot D they are targetting. Definitely have room to do so now. If we can solidify our D core (and a post season birth) we should be a difficult team to play against.

I'm hesitant about Tanev coming back - on the one hand, he would provide valuable veteran leadership, but he was always getting injured!

I am also hesitant about the possibility of Tanev playing for the Canucks again. The dude is injury prone.

Did Tanev ever play an entire season when he played for our team? Nope. Career stats in terms of games played:

^ He is UFA. Tanev still seems relatively the same. Injury prone play style, but reliable when healthy. Markstrom seems have dropped off significantly, probably misses Ian Clark

He's also played 22 games so far this season prior to taking that puck to the face. Keep in mind that the Flames have also been struggling but Tanev is still solid in his own right. I'm not saying they should 100% take him back, all I'm saying is that he wouldn't be a hindrance to this team. As a rental, I'm not particularly interested but he might be a key veteran figure needed in a playoff push.

Tanev was an important part of the locker room leadership, and when he left it entirely fell apart, and then we got the Bo Horvat/JT Miller .. whatever

It's JT's locker room now though, so I don't know if you can just bring him back and have it work? Maybe if he was JT's guy and not Bo's... Who knows
