Religion killed more people than all wars combined. It’s also used for justification or at least the coverup for the most heinous of crimes. See: tens of thousands of molestations and child absurers from single sects of the Catholic Church ie. the Boston clergy etc.

so what religions are at war in the Middle East right now? Or in Russia & Ukraine.
Netanyahu is the least religious 'Jew' there is. The age old conflict in the Middle East has gone way past 'religion'. Some Jews I know are the most secular people I know. It's mostly culture, race, and ethnicity imo.

They are literally fighting over land they deem theirs as per their interpretation of THEIR book lol..
Israel has killed more people in a few months than Russia has in 2 years.

I have to agree, this is terrorism by Israel. Funny though it doesn't sound like Hezbollah is coming out and calling it that. There's going to be a tit for tat response from them.
I know you guys are all calling Israel out for killing lots of civilians in Palestine, but I have less sympathy for Palestinians because the people elected Hamas to govern Palestine. The people you elected and endorsed start shit and you reap what you sow. Before the whole music festival attack, things were tense but nothing major was happening.

A) the 15000 or so dead children didn't vote for them
B) the only reason Hamas is in power was because they would fight against the illegal occupation and evictions that Israel has been doing for decades as they pushed Palestinians into areas that are maybe 1/20th of the land that was rightfully theirs.

this is why i like foreign media like DW and south china post.
SCMP is right to call it terrorism this time. However, in general, I am very skeptical of many viewpoints that SCMP is holding now, esp this editor dude Yoden Lhatoo.
For many years now, SCMP has become very pro-China, and a lot of their views are just biased. It has almost reached the point of "China good", "western countries bad" sort of level. They also have a tendency to paint a really rosy picture of anything China-related, so I wouldn't consider them to be an impartial news media at all.
DW, on the other hand, is very good. Always insightful, and they always get subject matter experts to share their views.
well they have to be pro china, otherwise, they'll get shut the fuck down just like apple news. SMCP at least is based out of hong kong and their office is right ontop of a major shopping center that my wife visits all the time, its a cool place and SMCP itself has a long history

This argument has to stop being parroted, as it's wildly untrue.
Guess when the last election was had in Palestine? 2006.
The median age in Palestine is 20.
That means the average person in Palestine during the last election was 2 years old, meaning most people in Palestine currently did not vote for Hamas. Not only that, voter turnout back then was abysmal at best back then.
To make that argument sound even more ridiculous would be to say Americans today (who were not of voting age in the year 2000) are guilty of supporting the Iraq War because George W was voted in back in 2000.
It's a completely stupid argument that carries no value when you actually think about it.

That's fair given those facts.
But why has no new elections been called? Would that be called complacent then?

lol do you know how voting works in third world countries? It's not the same as here. Like they don't even count the votes. Its just like how Putin keeps getting "elected"

Israel's own Prime Minister even admitted this fact:
"In an interview with Politico in 2023, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that "In the last 15 years, Israel did everything to downgrade the Palestinian Authority and to boost Hamas." He continued saying "Gaza was on the brink of collapse because they had no resources, they had no money, and the PA refused to give Hamas any money. Bibi saved them. Bibi made a deal with Qatar and they started to move millions and millions of dollars to Gaza."
You don't blame citizens under a dictatorship for being under a dictatorship. Good lord
I don't buy it. There isn't any disruptions, and support for Hamas seems strong amongst Palestinians. Sure maybe a lot of them don't care, but they also don't care enough to change.

Funny enough, Israel have been the ones that have been ensuring Hamas stays in power, and doesn't hold elections.

That's interesting. Can't say I am well versed in the happenings in that region of the world, just basics.
