That said I mostly keep my mouth shut because to be honest, I don't really understand the intricacies of the region... I just don't think what Israel is doing is very genuine or... well... necessary? Escalation and attacks are not a positive way forward toward anything that's going to be healthy for the region.
As a casual reader of this thread I never got the feeling honda is doing much more than asserting a casual layman's opinion. | There's nothing wrong with questioning why your country has anything to do with them, going back 100 years, especially if you don't really understand the intricacies (I don't either).
But to go straight to "Jews rule the world" is questionable behavior (and the reason he comes across as having a "layman's opinion" if you take his posts at face value is because he's using dog whistles rather than stating it outright, which is what I am calling out). Because you know the people who spout that shit off also tend to have some even more questionable views.

All my friends do dumb shit. I should go bomb them…
At least by attacking Yemen it might restore global trade as right now everyone is taking the long route around the cape instead of using the suez. Lower freight costs means cheaper goods for everyone (less profits for me though….)

This is a layman's opinion. Israel was warned by the US something was happening, but not sure about what.
Israel chose to not do anything about it. Yes the kind of intelligence is very different, but I very much doubt that if Israel has the ability to flex and yell a proverbial FUCK YOU everyone involved in the region by a very accurate targeted bombing Hezbollah leadership, they sure as hell knew something was coming.
My view is Israel was just hoping for something over the line to happen and not just a few rockets, so they can start some shit.
Skinny called me out for blaming a dictatorship's ppl for the actions of a government that they had no chance in making a decision on. My view is the Palestine ppl are complicit with Hamas, and even support it. I do feel like Israel probably has a similar sentiment based on the rather lopsided actions in both Gaza against Hamas and in Lebanon against Hezbollah. They have the ability and intelligence, and can totally do a targeted strike but chose not to.
Of course there's also the issue of not escalating with Lebanon, and not alienating a much larger population into supporting a war.

You ever have a 'friend' who do dumb shit? | For all the calling Israel out by Western allies, Israel has continued to escalate the situation in the ME though, which means none of the calling out actually made any difference.
Gaza is little more than a pile of rubble now, and even though Israel claims they are winding down their Gaza operations now, I have no doubt that Israel (or maybe just Netanyahu?) would rather just flatten Gaza into a completely lifeless zone.
If I have friends that continue to do dumb shxt and beat up on little kids / people half his size, you bet I will dump his a$$ and cut our friendship off even if we go way back.
Western "allies" really need to re-think their relationship with Israel, or at least with just Netanyahu. Maybe stir up some political shxt in Israel and drag him out of office so that his murderous fxxker can stop trying his best to start WW3?

Canada and the US just recently abstained from the vote at the UN which passed unanimously to withdraw from the Gaza Strip essentially due to the “wording” placing blame on Israel for its current state, but let’s face it, they support the destruction.
Also great article here outlining the biggest congressional supporters of Israel in Nancy Pelosi and Trump https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2...-so-pro-israel
Virtually every article you will find regarding the US’s “unwavering support” or Israel leads back to political influence.
People like Pelosi and Trump have -never- been motivated by power or money though.

Harris and Biden are right there too. In fact it could cause trouble for Harris because the more far left people will never vote Democrat because of it, while the more far right someone is, the more likely they'll vote Trump

Shit might really hit the fan soon if Iran launches a ballistic missile attack on Israel.
The Americans know that an attack on Israel is imminent.
From CNN:
Potential Iranian ballistic missile attack on Israel could be very costly for Tehran regime, analyst says
From CNN's Nadeen Ebrahim
A potential ballistic missile attack by Iran on Israel could “cost the regime its head,” an Iran expert said, especially if the attack is carried out as a last-ditch effort to save face.
“Resorting to another direct missile attack on Israel would mean the regime (in Tehran) sees itself in more dire straits that Iranian officials acknowledge,” Behnam Ben Taleblu, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) think tank in Washington, DC, told CNN. He added that an attack could “easily beget a larger regional war” as Israel would likely respond much more forcefully than it did in April, when Iran fired an onslaught of drones and missiles toward Israel.
“A missile strike merely for the purpose of saving face could easily end up costing the regime its head,” Ben Taleblu said.
The White House on Tuesday said the United States believes Iran is preparing an imminent ballistic missile attack against Israel, and Washington is actively preparing to support Israel against such an attack. The US also warned that an attack of the kind would “carry severe consequences for Iran.”
Ben Taleblu said that should an Iranian attack take place, much of the region’s fate would hinge on how Washington responds, “which has been essentially absent from the past few game-changing weeks in the Middle East.” He also noted that Iran has the largest missile arsenal in the region.

There's amazing Jewish food in Montreal.
Bar haifa is really good food. Kinda Persian mixed with PNW stuff. Service was pretty bad though when I went.

Khaghan, Gilaneh, Zeitoon are some of my regulars. Some are conveniently located in both cities
"Israeli" food is basically the same Lebanese food, unless you're talking about Kosher cuisine which is yeah not great. There's also a bunch of Michelin starred Israeli restaurants on the East Coast of the US.

Iran started their missile attack on Israel. Oh boy.
From CNN:
Missiles have been launched from Iran to Israel, according to an Israel Defense Forces statement.
Sirens are sounding across Israel, it said.

Comon we've all seen this episode before. Israel shoots down most if not all of the rockets. Iran gets to say they attacked the great Zionist satan with the full might of Allah's sword. Everyone forgets about this shit by next Wednesday.
Edit: And I'm right: Quote:
The Iranian Mission to the United Nations said Tuesday afternoon that Tehran’s response has “been duly carried out,” following a barrage of missiles launched at Israel.

"Iranian Mission to the UN: Tehran's response "has been duly carried out"
From CNN's Jennifer Hansler
The Iranian Mission to the United Nations said Tuesday afternoon that Tehran’s response has “been duly carried out,” following a barrage of missiles launched at Israel.
“Iran’s legal, rational, and legitimate response to the terrorist acts of the Zionist regime—which involved targeting Iranian nationals and interests and infringing upon the national sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran—has been duly carried out,” the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations said in a post on X.
The mission said that if Israel should “dare to respond or commit further acts of malevolence, a subsequent and crushing response will ensue.”
The mission added that “regional states and the Zionists’ supporters are advised to part ways with the regime.”
==============
so does that mean they are stopping? just like a few months ago where they sent a bunch of slow drones that all got shot down and said that was an adequate response.

In fact a good number of Iranians here and in the US support Israel. Many are Jews/Atheists themselves and I seem to recall Iranian flags in the crowd of protestors asking for the hostages to be returned.

Iran has no interest in any full on war. They've made that pretty clear, and its become tiring that rhetoric Israel/US have been trying to push about them wanting war.
Iran's little retaliatory missile attack is the equivalent of your buddy punching you in the arm and you having to get your "get back" without looking like a pussy.

Iran's little retaliatory missile attack is the equivalent of your buddy punching you in the arm and you having to get your "get back" without looking like a pussy. | The US and even Jordan are setting up their military on high alert in the Middle East now after the Iranians fired 180 missiles into Israel. IDF confirmed about 180 missiles were fired into Israel.
The Americans are sending more soldiers for deployment. Jordanian military is on high alert.
The big question is how will Israel respond to the missile attacks.
The IDF will not let this go.
They don't think this missile attack is the equivalent of a guy punching you in the arm. -sounds more like a jab in the face if we are using hand to hand combat analogy.
If the Iranians think that Israel is gonna let this go with just some verbal threats, they are gonna be mistaken.
It's up to the Americans to talk to the Israeli PM and his security cabinet in order to determine what kind of military response would be adequate enough to respond to Iraq without escalating the conflict even more.
CNN:
Miller echoed National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in stating the US will coordinate with Israel on its response to the attack on Israel, calling it “a significant escalation.” He also pledged that there would be consequences.
“Of course there must be consequences for Iran for this attack. We’ve made clear that there must be consequences. I’m not going to get into what those consequences are today, but they are things on which we will be coordinating with our Israeli counterparts,” Miller said at a press briefing Tuesday.

You mean Israel attacking Iran.
April 1st. No April Fool's joke at all. Iran blames the IDF for killing some of their military commanders. https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/01/middl...ntl/index.html
Top Iranian military commanders were among the seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) officials killed in an airstrike on the country’s consulate building in Damascus, Syria, according to Iranian officials and state-affiliated media, which blamed Israel for the attack.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that senior IRGC commander Mohammed Reza Zahedi was killed in the attack. Haji Rahimi was named as the second commander killed in the attack, according to the IRGC statement shared by state news agency IRNA later on Monday.
The IRGC statement named five other officials who were killed: Hossein Aman Elahi, Mehdi Jalalati, Mohsen Sedaghat, Ali Aghababaee, and Ali Salehi Roozbahani.

The reason I refer to their little missiles as a punch in the arm is because it is just that. Those missiles for the most part will be completely intercepted and destroyed by the iron dome, Iran knows full well their little volley will result in little to no damage on Israel.
This is all to save face to not appear weak doormats. Israel is doing everything within their power to goad them into doing something foolish to allow them to kick off a war, that's as clear as day.
They're like a school bully pushing a weak kid hit them back, once that kid hits back, it gives the bully every opportunity to then knock his head off.
