Car batteries - what's your go-to store?

Need to replace the battery on my 2018 TLX, so shopping around right now. Since y'all are in the know for all things automotive, I thought I'd ask where your go-to shop for batteries in the Lower Mainland (or US options if there's a good deal)

Honestly, the dealership! The warranty policy (for Honda, anyway) is great, and I don't recall it costing much more than at Costco.

Full replacement warranty for the first 3 years, and then prorated warranty coverage for 100 months (8.33 years).

I bought the current battery in my s2k in 2020. Earlier this year, months before the warranty ran out, my battery was so dead that I had to jump it at every start. So I stopped over at Honda and after they ran a test, I got a brand new battery for free.

edit: oh. the Honda Canada battery warranty is 2 years full replacement, then prorated replacement warranty up to 60 months (5 years). same for Acura Canada.

Good to know! I think it might already out of warranty as it's year #5 now - however, this is the 2nd battery that this car has been through - presumably based on forum comments from auto idle stop. I'll give the dealer a try though to see if they'll replace for free though.

With that said, I was trying to avoid the dealer just because this is the 2nd OEM battery in 5 years so I was looking to see if there's other options out there that might last a bit longer.

5 years is not too bad.

Costco and Canadian Tire are good options. I don't have a lead on them anymore but I like Interstate Batteries.

My Crappy tire batteries would crap out every year, warranty would replace with a new one.. same problem year after year. My Honda battery has been going 3+ years solid.

I'm surprised by your repeated CT battery deaths because I'm probably on my 4th or 5th Crappy Tire battery at this point, and the one that died the fastest has still lasted me 4+ years.

The others are in the 5 - 7 year range before either the battery died, or I have sold the car.

This was over a decade ago. Maybe they use a better formula now.

Price has gone up at least 50% in the last couple years.

Costco it is by unanimous decision.
Scoped out the options at Costco here today. It looks like their AGM batteries are from Energizer and are about $255. US Costco has Interstate batteries and $169USD. Might stop by the Bellingham Costco the next time I'm down there to give them a try.

My previous Costco battery shit the bed in about 2 years, car was slowly having a harder time turning over so figured either battery or starter, so figured fuck it might as well replace the battery

The return with Costco is so easy I think it’s just another reason to go with them, I told the guy it went bad and I was just going to get a new battery from then anyways, the one I got was on sale at the time so buddy even gave me extra money back on the return lol

I've had two Costco batteries, and both ended up getting sold with the car after about 3 years so never had a problem.

169USD at 1.4 exchange rate.... you aren't saving much over a 255CAD battery locally. And you need to factor in the time needed to cross the border.

Costco batteries have gone down in quality from what I have seen. The only good thing about the Costo battery is the warranty and have easy it is to exchange.

I've used NAPA batteries for 17 years now on all my vehicles, lasts 5-6 years usually, prices are way higher than they used to be though. I go for the Legend over the PowerStart
