I read on X that Tesla is now requesting a $1000 non-refundable deposit if you're selected for an allocation. They should have implemented this months ago to weed out people who put down $100 just for the sake of it. |

Even 25% is still 500,000 which will take them a few years to make. What other car released lately has that much demand? Type r, gr Corolla? Supra? I bet that's more than how many rav 4 primes will ever be made.

Reminds me of my cousin who got engaged in the late 80s. My family went through the whole pre-marriage / marriage shite that we're apparently supposed to do. This was weeks worth of traditions the bride-to-be would partake in up until the actual wedding itself.
The wedding itself was massive. My dad got so drunk, he had to pull over to vomit in a storm drain.
Anyway, 3 months after all this, the groom disappeared once he got his visa

The longer they have it the more likely it is that the person will die or forget about it and then it's not even a loan, it's just free money.

The best part of growing up was crashing a random wedding and getting drunk for free before heading to the club. Ah, the good old days.
Regarding the CT, does anyone know when the Canadian CT pricing will be released? I read on the forums that perhaps we'll see pricing next month.

My buddy just send me a link for the Lightning. Basemodel, dual motors 52k with discounts. That’s insane.

The F150 is meant to be a workhorse, which is why transitioning to a full EV didn't make sense to me. First, the range is lacking, and second, the amount of abuse these trucks endure especially for those who use them on worksites is insane. Imagine facing battery issues every month, or, God forbid, experiencing a failure due to 'wear and tear' that isn't covered under warranty.

Our F-150 is the standard battery, in winter time it is reduced to 120-130kms of driving on a full charge. Our building doesn't have proper charging stations so it's plugged into a 110v outlet and takes like 3 days to get a full charge... and seemingly never gets past 90% no matter how long we leave it plugged in for.
It's also been in for recalls and a myriad of mysterious ailments related to suspension clunks and brake noise issues in its ~10,000kms so far. Nobody wants to drive it, none of the techs want to deal with the range anxiety and it's just a turd. I think we're flushing it out to the island soon (in exchange for a gas F-250) where it will likely live out the rest of its days driving back and forth between the office out there and Tim Hortons/Starbucks. Maybe the occasional Jamba Juice run.

| The last 10% is always the slowest and it may be set to only charge to 90% to help preserve the battery.

It's not even that cold here! They have 1 in Quebec too and recently did a 500km round trip that usually takes about 6 hours in a regular truck, but it took 2 days, 3 charging stops and a hotel stayover with the stupid Lightning lol

This whole EV wave was just a ridiculous scam in so many ways. People who understand current tech, and the market itself seen this coming YEARS ago.
The idea of pivoting full EV by 2035 was such a ludicrous goal, flushed through by feckless and moronic politicians. When will these guys tell the truth in that we simply won't be there by 2035?
A lot of these CEOs are about to look pretty stupid in the next year or two by throwing all their chips into going full EV with their lineups. It reminds me of the NFT/Crypto craze of the early 2020s where so many seemingly educated fools fell hook line and sinker for such an asinine idea.
It's utterly baffling.

21% of new cars sold in BC are electric. I have had a number family members and friends make the switch and will be never going back. My buddy bought a BMW hybrid. he drives to work charges it there and drives back. Gets gas maybe once of month. His next car is going to be fully electric.

Hybrids and electrics can be pretty cool, but there's no way, in 10 years, they will be good enough for everyone.
This vehicle is more like a social experiment from Elon to see how dedicated to him his fanbase is, and how fucking stupid he can make something and still sell it.

Not a Elon fan but I don't mind ludicrous goals ... if the goal isn't reached by 2035 and reached in 2045 .. that's OK. Gotta start somewhere, aim high. You must admit that the transition to EV's has happened quite quickly and regardless of whether you like Musk or not, he did serve as a massive catalyst in this direction

dunno, been seeing more skeptics jumping in on the see?!? wagon
we're in a shit economy where more and more cant even feed themselves, if the market was balanced or favourable; EV for the masses still makes a lot of sense in certain areas
not supporting a ban on ICE though
