Yeah, finding a good spot is totally fair.
I find having the spot identification from the autopark is super helpful if it's dark and/or wet outside.

This isn't a problem in the most of the states or even Toronto though
Lots of space to park

& ya fair on the headlights, it's been a weak spot for a lot of pickups

To be fair, I do miss my Ram 1500. That was a great comfy vehicle. Just sucks to daily in the city, loved it when I lived outside of Vancouver.

Also, it got better fuel mileage than my previous Subaru Forester XT with twice the cylinders lmao.

(Edit also headlight glare no a problem when you're that tall lmao)

The 21' Rebel I drove in Richmond justttttt fit in most parking lots.
Downtown, I had specific spots and blocks in Gastown I'd just go to and park.

Yaletown, Kits, and Seattle were more of a chore.

If you have a detached home, a truck is such an asset.

I desperately miss mine when trying to move anything longer than a few feet. Same for bulk materials such as soil etc.

You can get a yard of top soil dumped into your truck for like $65.. to have the same yard delivered under 5k away is over $200

I think the new Silverado EV is going to be a hit.
Crazy range/charging/up to 10 feet gate if you drop the midgate.
They just need to make it not ugly lmao

On top of what has been mentioned already they're more dangerous for everyone around you and the interior storage is basically nonexistant. Since most people don't actually use the bed to haul dirty stuff you're better off with a van/SUV/wagon. Hell I've put 2x4s in my Celica lol. Not really a daily thing but for actual offroading the breakover and departure angles are a lot worse than an SUV.

Personally I also find them incredibly boring to drive. Even by DD standards they're dull.

I agree with all of this - have s2k, motorcycles, and others for my primary use because I prefer fun and engaging.
Have stuffed all sorts of furniture in the s2k as well as well as two road bikes regularly.

but for the family who's just looking for comfort for their dog/family/occasional hauling, I feel pickups are pretty hard to beat.

You can fit giant Costco plastic storage racks in a convertible, I think I fit like 4, just drop the top. Can you even fit into parking garages with a pick up?

Just get a kei truck, same bed length and you can just park on your lawn

I daily an F150 and it's not bad really. I wouldn't want to bring it downtown often but even when I do it's not the end of the world. It's a great family vehicle, maybe not the most exhilarating to drive but it keeps me out of trouble since I know it's a big pig on the road and I drive it like it's one.

I doubt I'm spending that much more in gas compared to a similar sized SUV so buy what suits you.

Was looking into this some more

- When the tonneau cover is closed, rear view mirror is useless
- When turn signal is on, the rearview mirror on the screen is disabled
- No hands free highway driving
- No 360 camera

I'm pretty open to new tech but the CyberTruck just feels lazy.
Even the ugly silverado has..

- Digital screen rearview mirror
- Super Cruise
- 360 Camera
- Video feed that can show behind your trailer
- but it's really ugly

Toyota doesn’t have a vehicle in its lineup with interior at nice as top trim F150’s. Even lariat tbh

Tbh I think the current F150 interior still looks and feels really cheap. RAM and Rivian are the benchmark here

Have you been in the latest gen?

Have two friends with 2023 Lariats, it’s all wood grain and leather. The dials and touch screens look great and the the digital gauges are pretty sweet a huge upgrade from previous generations imo

We saw red_kryptonite's Tundra at one of the meets, that thing had a really nice interior, the seats alone were worth the price of admission with this crazy but subtle red camo pattern to them. I thought it was pretty noice.

I hear you guys talking about driving trucks as daily, but a friend who has a Rebel, he says with two kids, the SUVs make more sense as the interior space on the truck isn't as usable as say a TMY.

The bed is great when things are dirty, but then now everything is dirty. and there just isn't enough interior space to keep clean things clean. Though the F150 Lightning and TCT makes more sense with the frunk because clean shit go in the frunk, dirty shit in the bed.

Well if the goal is jamming as much shit in your vehicle as humanly possible, a mini van is your choice.

In terms stuff being dirty, never met anyone with a couple kids and an SUV who’s vehicle wasn’t totally filthy anyways lol

From the F150 Limited I looked at while Lightning shopping, I think Ford dresses up a plasticky interior; think BMW style.
RAM starts with an awesome base interior (even in the Rebel I rented); think MB Designo style.

The one I rented was broken in ways I've never seen in F150s and RAM with triple the mileage

Sunglasses case was sticky
The seat end caps pop off
Headliner was dropping
The seats even crack ffs

Reddit says these are common problems on MY23 and 24 still ..... and the AC/Heat is weaksauce.

My biggest issue? It feels like it was designed by people who had never used a truck as an office on the go, or for a long road trip.

Can't fit three phones charging up front.
RAM has rubberized phone "clamps" with 4 USB ports under the screen.

Can't fit a giant water bottle for road trips.
RAM's center console slides back and you can put whatever size/bottles you want

Can't put my laptop in center console.
RAM fits my 15" laptop AND tablet.

Can't get massage seats or a power tailgate.
Competitors do all of this, the door opens 20 ways to get you closer to your stuff, has a built in extender, and have an illuminated step/handle to help you get up

Can't get 360 camera unless Platinum trim? No remote trailer cam?
This is standard on F150 XLT with cloth seats, not even 4x4 nor limited slip diff.

If someone wanted a pickup truck that was dependable, got great power, that rode well, and got great fuel economy...

In 2007, Tundra had 400+ hp when no one else did, engine/trans were solid when GM was dropping lifters and Ford was blowing spark plugs making 340hp.
Since 2012, you buy a Ford 3.5 Ecoboost or now duramax/Powerboost/Lightning for power and economy, you buy the RAM for a 20 year old V8 and ZF8 gearbox, and you buy a RAM for ride quality.

^ You're not wrong... I avoid Dodge like the plague for my truck orders... also I have yet to see a Dodge dealership that we didn't have to threaten with a ban from servicing/maintenance for our vehicles because of massive overcharging and diagnosing problems that weren't actually there.

Their newest diesel straight 6 is kinda interesting though.

Unless you're an alcoholic lol. I think they still have the highest DUI rate of any vehicle by a huge margin.

If you still want the greasy dealership vibes that gave the stereotype of stealerships go to a dodge dealer. Still using 4 square sale sheets, calling non-stop "what can we do to make a deal today"

My friends that had ram trucks, they all developed the hemi tick and had tons of problems. But truck drivers are fanatically loyal and they keep buying new ones with the same issues.

Hemi tick sounds bad until you consider that every GM V8 has serious valvetrain issues even within the first year or two, and the Ford V8s were puking spark plugs until 2012

The transmissions were also guaranteed to fail until they switched to ZF8
