There! Spotted another with smashed inner tail lights!

I am not sure why they are smashed in now. Don't know what kids these days do with their cars lol.

EvoFire 10-26-2023 09:15 PM

I don't think they are smashed, just faded.

Huh. You right. I googled and it seems to be a thing with a model year range w/ those inner tail lights.

Koflach 10-27-2023 12:59 PM

If I were to buy a new car for my 17 year old self it would be either a 1995 RX-7 or Supra. If it were a classic, probably a hemi cuda, mach1, or gt350.

Hondaracer 10-27-2023 01:50 PM

None of those fit the criteria sonny

twitchyzero 10-27-2023 02:24 PM

20k down payment, maybe

68style 10-27-2023 02:25 PM

I mean, I can remember in the late 90's / early 2000's RX7's were around in the mid teens?

The other ones.. not so much lol

Hondaracer 10-27-2023 02:56 PM

I don’t ever remember any FD’s being less than 15 or so and that was for bad examples

68style 10-27-2023 03:20 PM

I remember being with a guy from Bellingham who was on RS and looking at a red one that was in good shape... 93 or 94? and he was buying it for $14800 up here to take it down there

Hondaracer 10-27-2023 03:33 PM

Yea 15 was probably the line all time on those lol.. kinda weird one of the few that maintained its price over 3 decades. Not even the ITR can claim that. S2000 probably the only comparable at that price point

hud 91gt 10-28-2023 06:34 AM

Even S2000’s hit the 10k mark and lower at one point.

underscore 10-28-2023 11:13 AM

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing rougher/high mileage S2000s below 10 and similar R32 Skyline GTRs as low as 6k. I nearly bought one as a winter beater.

GIZZ 10-29-2023 08:20 AM

Would be better for my 17yo self If I took 20yo cash back in time and bought a car then. Easier to fit in the time machine too. I would have told myself to keep all the cars I already had, wait a few years then put the money into stocks.

twitchyzero 10-29-2023 03:09 PM

how many cars did a 17yo have? :ahwow:

1st car nothing special, '78 sapporo. Then a 3 1st gen celicas, also nothing special at the time, but we 22r swapped one. 3 Z cars. '82 toyota 4x4. '80 turbo cobra I spent all my money on, then a pair of turbo II's and a kawasaki. Then I decided to go back to high school.

jpark 10-29-2023 09:00 PM

6spd MK5 GTI or a 8th gen civic si for me. Both zippy, not crazy fast, fwd, safe enough for a highschool kid.

Drooled over those 2 cars back in 06 when i first got my license.

coneZONE 10-30-2023 08:36 PM

I just got my N in 2011 lol. 2nd Try, at Burnaby Lougheed ICBC. They had just phased out the black and green Ns for the super shiny small white and green ones.

I could’ve picked up one of those New Flyer D40 high floor coaches that TransLink retired after the olympics and scrapped them for $1000 apiece haha. The rest of it might not have been able to pay for the storage for the next decade though

At that age i wanted a nice 1991 Civic Si hatch (dunno why I wanted one that had factory DRLs, but I remember that was what i specifically wanted), then later i watched Initial D and wanted a Corolla hatch like everyone else.

Maybe not with the general consensus of sporty cars, but The top choice would be I give myself the $20000 to fix up our existing ‘85 Land Cruiser SWB haha
$15000 in 2011 then couldve gone a long way towards the repairs
(Hopefully with my new job now, i can hve more free time to work on it )

fliptuner 10-31-2023 06:56 AM

There were no N's when I got my license lol. You went in on your 16th birthday, did the written test, then 30 days later, took your road test and BAM, legal.

Eclipse GSX
RX7 TII
Mazda 323 GTX
I-Mark RS

teggy604 10-31-2023 08:49 AM

Anybody take the road test with a Tesla? Do they allow you to one pedal drive? Lol

dark0821 10-31-2023 11:23 AM

I think Tesla wasn't a thing when most of RS got their license lolol... even the original Roadster came out towards the end of my uni lolol

I found one of the old ICBC cardboard "Student Driver" signs in some boxes in storage a while back.

I remember doing my Class 5 with a manual car and it was way easier to maintain the speed limit because I just had to lift off for engine braking, and I could judge speed by the tone of the exhaust lol.

Except the examiner was like "uh yeah I could be failing you for coasting to a stop at red lights in neutral, but I can understand why it wouldn't be possible with a stick shift." So then challenge accepted, I started heel-toe double-clutch downshifting every gear from 5th to 1st at every subsequent red light & stop sign lolol. That bought me brownie points for other minor infractions they could've dinged me on.
