Seems to be. Got a 4060 as well for roughly the same price during Black Friday sales.

My CPU and board is 4 years old, AMD Ryzen 3600X. I'm not really seeing the bottle neck there but the 1070 was having a harder time when I upgraded to a 1440p

Anyone change their phone plans during black friday?

I changed to Fido's $40 for 40GB and now I got hit with a $37.55 1 time charge for each line that I changed. I didn't read the fine print, but WTF OMG BBQ. Anyone else get this charge?

MarkyMark 01-02-2024 12:26 PM

I switched to the $60 CAN-US-MEX 100GB with Telus EPP.

I was already paying $65 for CAN-US plan so this was a no brainer

This was recent though not Black Friday

bcrdukes 01-02-2024 12:26 PM

What was this 1-time charge for, and how did you make the plan change? Was it over the phone, in person, or on Fido.ca?

Dafuq? I'd call and complain.

I've changed my Fido plan twice the past 2 Black Fridays and I was never hit with any BS charges.

Badhobz 01-02-2024 12:43 PM

i think my wife told me they had a promo that was texted to you (something about an additional free 30gig of data on your EXISTING plan) and if you took that, they dinged you a "account change" fee.

SSM_DC5 01-02-2024 01:16 PM

Fido Chat was much faster to get an agent than my previous attempts, perhaps it's just because it's not black friday anymore. Turns out, they didn't charge me anything last month, so they charged me 2 months worth this time around. I purposely tried to do any changes via the online site by myself to avoid any BS admin fees because it seems to be the norm where if a real person touches your account, you'll have to pay fees.

bcrdukes 01-02-2024 01:37 PM

If you perform the price plan change online on Fido.ca, there's no service fee. But if you talk to someone, the service charge is there.

CivicBlues 01-02-2024 01:57 PM

I talked to someone over the phone on Black Friday to change to the $34/40GB plan. I also clicked on and accepted a 20GB bonus last week.

I haven't been charged extra so far. Should I be worried?

bcrdukes 01-02-2024 03:13 PM

Maybe? Just be vigilant when your next bill becomes available.

Are you sure its not just the prorated cost of your old plan up until the change to your new plan? Ie. if you were coming from a $50/month plan and you changed on the 15th day, you would owe $25 for the first half of a month and then $20 for the next half of the month at your new $40/month plan? The bill always looks fucked until the first proper full month especially with all the credits etc.

I took advantage of Freedom Mobile's Boxing Day Promo on its last day. Went from 40 GB 5G US/Canada to 100GB for free.

The original plan offered was more data for less monthly. I wanted that, but had to pay $300+ to get out of my contract (new phone). Some lady on the phone with a thick accent tried to explain things to me. I couldn't understand 90% of what she was saying. I hung up and went into the FM location in Metropolis. Dude explained everything in plain English. 40 to 100 for free. No extra/hidden charges. I don't think I've ever used more than 30 GB of data ever. Anyway.....................

68style 01-02-2024 07:49 PM

Freedom is complete shit, I wouldn't go with them if they were $5 a month

MG1 01-02-2024 07:52 PM

Works for me.............

When I'm in the US, it's totally fine. Not sure if it's T-Mobile or some other carrier.

Rogers EPP $40/100GB USA-CAN plan. It's so nice to not have to switch SIMs when you cross the border.

Where did you do your EPP through? Red wireless or? I ask because I'm sure my work has a EPP but no idea what the plan is.
