Is this seafair meats by any chance? I wasn't blown away by the 28-day dry aged steak. It's was lacking a little flavour tbh. Both 325ismsport and I cooked it with a sous vide and then he seared it with a cast iron.

I doubt it's user error either because if you had me on Instagram, for a period of time I ate steaks every day for 3 months lol.

Can't believe that all I'm hearing is Beefway here and that there's no love for Columbus Meat Market on here. I sometimes drive 40 mins for that shit even when I'm not passing by the area.

They have these 1.5" Ribeyes/tenerloins/prime rib steaks/t-bones for $11-13. They have larger and thicker cuts for $25, and sell Tomahawks for $45.
Always fresh and have great marbling.

Great price for their other meats too - I always get their burger patties and marinated wings for BBQs
Yea Costco blade tenderizes their meat. While their rib eyes are a decent size they always felt different when actually eating them in a not good way vs basically anywhere else.

First time sneaking a peak in this thread since the thread started. It’s about meats now. Still boils down to who can afford this or not. Neat.

I don’t bless before every meal, but I am grateful for everything I have. In my sig, about the grace of god. I could have easily been one of the hundreds of thousands who are without a home or food on the table.

I’ll admit, I do judge people. Not by their wealth, but for what they have. A big heart. A person with integrity, empathy, and humility. Their outlook on life. They, to me, are the richest of people. /sermon

Case in point. This was a while back, but I was volunteering at an inner city elementary school in the Valley during the holiday season. I saw some amazing things. Mothers who didn’t have much giving away anything they could spare. I pondered this for quite some time. Then it hit me - these people know what it’s like to starve. Nobody to turn to when life throws them a dagger from hell. Going to bed knowing they made a difference kept them going. That experience changed me. I can never be like them, but I try. My eldest son is the same. He hears of some tragedy and he sends what he can. That makes me, IMHO, the richest of parents.

The GF loves my smothered pork chops, appreciate this, gonna grab some this weekend.

It was at Willingdon today - mine was $39 minus the $8 so basically 20% off (5lbs for $31!). I should have gotten 2 packs but I managed to ring up a $600 bill today so probably for the better.

IMO, the best 2 butchers in the lower mainland that I have been are Ciollis in North Burnaby and Heritage Meats in Langley. Not going to be the cheapest place, but the quality is there to justify their price.

Coming back to the original topic...

It's so hard to maintain a genuine relationship as you get older. People would have priorities, obligations and purposes. When I was younger, it didn't matter shit because friendship are more... pure, for the lack of a better word, for everyone.

But as I got older... I just find it hard. There are people who I used to call friends who are hanging out with me with the sole idea to use me to access my parents and their social circles. Or friends who need to work 9-5 and don't have the same schedule freedom that I have.

And more than anything... the difference is value. I have a different value than my friends back in Taiwan. In our get-togethers... they talk about their jobs and strategies how to secure those jobs, when I've got nothing to share in that regards.

When I go to parties of my *uncles* (dad's friends), they talk about buying a yacht together, making a bid for some Sotheby auction and whatever... I've got nothing to collaborate either. Those things are just outside of my abilities.

So, I started to hang out more with people who share similar value and are in similar positions. This way, I can still keep that "simple" friendship that I used to have.

The one on sale is a Sirloin Tip and is different. They're placed fridge as the Top Sirloin in Richmond, and this is from Willingdon right now

I picked up a small pack of $38 for $30 so that's a pretty good deal. It's going in the oven so even though the sticker says it's tenderized it will be fine

It's funny, back in highschool we used to talk about how nice it'll be once we all have real jobs so everyone is on the same schedule. Many moons later and only a couple of my friends also work "conventional" hours.

I carved up the caps I got yesterday and this was about a 550g mini-roast I made tonight. It was fantastic - the fat cap was heavenly (as in so much of it and so tasty I'd let it kill me). Even at regular price this is a great cut - barely half the price of rib eye. I bet it'd be great in a smoker too.

Let's talk about which butchers you can afford to shop at and if you have friends who aren't able to get the organic grass fed beef from Whole Foods that you have so much of that you use it for stir fry and burgers.

Man... I just came in to rant....

So while at work today.... I was in this chat group with a couple of my best friends...

out of the blue, some friend mentioned that we should all go hang out in cancun for Spring Break. Said it was super cheap, will come out to be about $3K per person (everyone in the group has like a family of 3 or 4 like me)

A few declined because they are already travelling, book to go there, or here, or wherever

I declined and just said striaght up I was too poor, plus taking time off for my job is like a double wammie lolol

Fook this shit.... I dont have 12K to throw out for 5 days~~

Hahahaha.... welp

But carry on guys, very entertaining =)

I have no idea tbh since I never been to a vacation like that, but all inclusive, appararently all you can drink... but my kids... they cant drink sooo lolol

But...its not about if its a good deal or not... the point of the post is actually exactly the point of the thread...

$3k per person might as well be $300 per person, friends can dine out and think spending $200 on a dinner for 2 is the "going rate"

For me.. $3,000 per person might as well be $30,000 per person, I don't have $300 to throw around, let alone $3,000 lololol
