I went to Finest Playas Mujeres with my family and it was about $1650 per person back in September with a direct flight and five nights. Even at that price I thought it wasn't my cup of tea, but we had a baby in the group so we didn't have many options. Can't imagine $3000 per person, jesus.

As much as I like your comments and insights ... 6 days = fail. But we can blame the Costco meat lovers.

Fuck I'm going down to Costco tomorrow to grab one. That fat top looks glorious.
$3K for 5 days in Cancun?! Fuck outta here.
I've stayed in Cancun/Isla Mujeres/Playa Del Carmen for 2 weeks in nice Airbnbs for less than that price, airfare and car rental included.
Buddy doesn't know how to travel.

I’m heading to Cancun for 5 days 4 nights for $1800 in mid April for my stag. It’s great because you don’t need to think or plan with a bunch of dudes

We are going to that exact property end of January, and it was pretty much exactly $3,000 per person excluding flights.

I've done both all inclusive at a really nice place and indie travel in Mexico... they both have their pros and cons, depending what you're looking for you could make a solid case for either or
Emphasis on really nice place for the inclusives... mediocre or meh all inclusives are a complete waste of time and $ in my opinion.

Everyone else seems to be stuck in this weird limbo deciding whether they continue to rent or not. | sorry for the... delayed reply to this post lol.
I'm gonna have to cut in here and say I've only in the past few years realize it's like a bell curve.
the poor rent, the middle class own... and the richest people I know, surprisingly still rent... of course some of them own properties that they flip or just... neglect for some reason, but their primary residence are rentals. A lot of them don't even own property, they make way more money from investing their money in the market, and properties are the most illiquid asset, and a huge "anchor" in freedom and mobility... of course im excluding the people who's primary wealth came from property development etc for obvious reasons LOL.
of course these rentals are typically on the "billionaires" row of whatever city they live in. North America and east Asia.
I'm talking about people that are worth tens of millions to the billions of USD. and no they're not crypto whales or whatever quick rich stuff. they're like 45 to 65 years old and have been doing what they've been doing for decades. No overnight rags to riches types.
the older more established ones have once owned in the 80s and 90s, but all dumped most of their properties as they were considered the worst asset for the reasons stated above. Just money sinks that don't make money as fast and huge liabilities.
I do notice that they move every 5-10 years, always to bigger, better, more serviced places. serviced as in, there are workers and services attached to the property. It's all chump change to them. Like they've evolved beyond needing to "own" a home.
perspective and pragmatism changes at every level of wealth you unlock.
anyway that's all I wanted to say.

oh and I stopped buying beef, well, almost. I replaced beef with pork and chicken cuz yeah wtf, at the price of some of these nice cuts of beef I'd rather just go to the keg and get them to cook, serve and clean up after me.
lol and the Costco free range organic whatever chilled chicken breast is $50CAD, wtf.

Is there any deals for all-inclusives? Or links to airbnbs that y'all stayed at?
Been looking casually cause I wanna turn off the brain for a week again but everything is roughly $2-3K for 5 nights for 4.5+ stars during the winter.

Speaking of mexico... heard from radio - 10 dudes booked a 5 million dollar house air bnb for a bach party paid 2k etc.
Somehow, neighbours or thief came over to their villa and stole all their shoes as they took their shoes before going in. So they were left trying to go to the nearest place to buy slippers. had to go back and forth with owner... got $100 - 200 back but what's done is done and what's that worth to anyone.
I have also see that before at local house party at an apartment... my buddy who was a prankster took all their shoes and threw them in the elevator..

Regtag.ca is good for all-inclusive deals.
Airbnb, just make yourself a list based on the region you're going on, review and go from there.
I always suggest looking at VRBO as well, especially if you're visiting places like Hawaii, Mexico, etc.

During some travels we met a couple who manage 10 rental properties in Toronto and they gave some great advice, they said always search the title of the airbnb listing in google to see if they list the property rental privately.
If they do it’s almost always substantially cheaper to rent directly from someone as opposed to going through airbnb, and if they have good reviews on airbnb I would t hesitate to deal with someone directly

Always works out like you said
This time it bit me in the ass.
I walked the property as i was in the area, booked a month through one of the staff, price was 100$ less than booking online.
I decided to stay an extra month here, so i talked to the owner of the hotel about another room. He told me it was 960$USD, but online was showing 820$USD through airbnb (place was offering a discount for first time booking)
I showed the 820$USD screenshot to the owner over whatsapp chat figuring they would honor it. And the slimy fuck removed the discount within 30 minutes, then the price changed to 1060$USD on all websites.
What a fucking tool. I folded and paid the 960$ anyways, because other options in the area were worse.
