That's so on brand with current Porsche image of "fuck you, you're lucky we let you buy this car" kind of attitude.

JDMDreams 06-11-2024 10:19 AM

Last time I heard VW ain't doing too good:lawl:

OpenRoad must have taken a page out of Porsche's playbook. :troll:

Stuttgart is a blue collar industrial shithole and we ended up having to eat Burger King for dinner.
I've never heard anyone say that about Stuttgart before. I've had a very nice time there. The traffic can be a bit killer and of course there's no shortages of industry, but generally I'd say it's a delightful place.

Have a look at Mannheim. Yikes, that place is rough.

I sold the car for $7500 and had a looooooooooooong list of people messaging me about it. That was before the swap got so expensive though.

You're right the HASport mounts which seem fine. I'm not sure which rack to be honest, I have a feeling its the stock non powered EK. Honestly I'd really like to swap in a powered one.

I looked into the idea of doing the swap myself but when this one came up I went for it.

Yah I did powered EG rack and I also did Air Conditioning hahaha

For a brief moment in time, it was actually the only car I owned with functioning AC..............

That's the whole reason we are eyeing Porsches brand new as they are the only one left doing ED except for Volvo, and we aren't interested in Volvo. ED in Canada is also a zero cost option it seems, at least in the configurator it was.

Thing is ED is more of a logistical win win, especially for rarer specs.
Not really an experience...

Porsche is dealers prioritize ED buyers because they get a second allocation for the same spec - this helps them build their allocation base. If you buy a 911 GTS via ED, the dealer has to pay 5k to fulfill the ED order but in return they get a second 911 GTS allocation to sell locally.

GT cars excluded of course. Taycan ineligible for ED as well.

Maybe I'm just a dick or have high standards. If there wasn't the Porsche connection it is not a place I'd want to visit or stay. On our last night before dropoff we stayed in Frankfurt instead so my wife didn't have to waste her last day.

I'm gonna sound like a privileged fuck saying this but even Frankfurt's very mid, it's a banking/industrial city like Toronto.
Most of Germany's kinda like New Jersey or Southern Ontario - lots of farmland/greenery and a lot of medium sized industrial cities.

Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich have got some culture depending on what you're looking for.

I've done Germany completely different. The first time we went we visited Berlin, which itself is full of history. We ventured to the offbeat parts and it was an awesome place.

The second time was ED with BMW. Munich was pretty interesting but that was it for us in terms of big cities. We picked up the car and hit up Linderhof on the suggestion of our delivery specialist and towards Neuschwanstein. Along the way we hit Augsburg, Rothenburg, Cochem, Eltz Castle, Nurburgring, Aachen. Frankfurt was on the way but we decided to just skip it and drove on the highway around it on the outskirts.

I think maybe as AstulzerRZD said, avoid the major centers as they are boring and go to all the other things.

Badhobz 06-11-2024 06:10 PM

You guys and your ED problems. Sheeesh

Stuttgart also has the MB museum which I enjoyed a lot more than Porsche's. MB's museum was like walking through their timeline and understanding their journey up to this point, while the Porsche museum was just a basic gallery of P-cars on platforms.

ya, i quickly decided on ceramic coating after getting quoted 10k for ppf too

my coating was done by the dealership, i think they wanted $1000 or something but i was able to get it down to half that. it worked great up until now, i already feel the beading effect is going away after just a year. you get what you paid for :heckno:

Use CarPro Reload after your next wash.

I agree, Frankfurt is mid. Nice river, a few nice places to eat, but mostly government and drug users. Probably not a bad place to live, but not worth a visit unless you're there on business.

Hamburg, Berlin, Munich as you say are good times. Obviously the area near Nurburgring :fuckyea:
Heidelburg, Baden-Baden are amazing. The whole Rhine valley is well worth losing a few million people over.

Hondaracer 06-12-2024 06:12 AM

Would rather just take a eurotrip and do local pickup as opposed to ED.. lol

A buddies step dad is a huge merc customer and when he bought his SLS they insisted on ED based on his relationship with Merc. Sounded pretty crazy from what I gathered I feel like he got to meet the actual guy who built his specific engine, had a track day with it, etc.

That whole area around Stuttgart is kind of a black hole in terms of Germany. Only went through Stuttgart on train but it looked much like Wolfsburg did with just chimney stacks everywhere and the grey drear that is much of Germany lol

Badhobz 06-12-2024 06:56 AM

Hamburg-er is the best. The rest of germany is meh... take it from a guy who was there for a few years.

Yeah, the dealer stuff is often barely better than a spray on wax. The pro coatings that are out there can be quite durable - with just a bit of upkeep they can last 4-5 years so the extra cost can be worth it. Mine comes with a 9 year "warranty" but the warranty isn't really worth the paper it's written on but it's a decent signal of durability relative to other products - I'd be happy to get a solid 5 years out of it.

The Reeperbahn in Hamburg did/does hold the record for most hookers per KM2. So.. there's that. :lol
