I was just down there as well. My fun rental car was totaled the week before i went down (Turo) and ended up getting a CRV Hybrid from the same host instead. BOMBED through a bunch of windy roads and left with almost 36MPG.

Angeles Crest was my fav as it was 2 hours of nonstop windy roads up from Glendale and ended up at a car meet where I saw Matt Farah's spyder and a BUNCH of exotics and older porsches. I ended up taking that same San Gabriel Rd after the meet at Newcombs ranch. Did you end up going west past Glendale and down Big Tujunga? Great windy roads there less switchbacks and saw a bunch of car reviewers the day i was out there.

Yep I felt the same. Surprisingly the hybrid does have a lil pep to its step but thats just me on that heavy dose of copium. (and my daily being a slow 4runner)

Next time im going to look into a Miata or M Car. Almost rented a G87M2 in manual but it ended up around $800 USD for my week there. My nursing income cant afford that. The deal I got on the CRV due to the inconvenience was too good to pass as well.

Dont underestimate a CRV, some dude in a minivan for a part of the drive up was straight up bombing it up the hill, full tilt, 10/10 execution.
