Damn that's hardcore, good for you man only connoisseurs will even be able to tell visually, that's a true personal passion project |
Thanks guys. Opportunity happened so I jumped on it as a mid life crisis thingy. I don't see myself being able to drive and enjoy cars like this with 130mm exhaust pipe and loud blow offs when I'm 50+, so the porsches or raris can wait. Carpe Diem! https://scontent.fhkg1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...uw&oe=66D5E655 |
How was the fitment and are you going to paint? |
So you literally cut the metal roof and rear quarters off? Wouldn't that make it a wet noodle. |
Have you tried to bend carbon and tried to bend sheet metal back to back? |

The roof and A pillars on mine is not going to be cut. the metal fender skin/C pillar should be cut at the original welds where just like when you buy a rear fender from Nissan. The carbon roof is actually just goes on top of it as it is slightly bigger for trimming. https://scontent.fhkg1-2.fna.fbcdn.n...yQ&oe=66D731DC The original garage active ones are all cut to the bareshell and his cars are all rollcaged or reinforced in return i believe, I don't want to do a cage. Garage Active is totally unhelpful at the moment, I felt from day one they wanted me to ship my car there for them to do. I didn't want to do that and just got a contact in Japan to buy it. Not there yet, as they're fixing all the rust and welding now, first Nissan for me and it's very different coming from Toyotas and Hondas where they dont' have this rust problem. I'm actually told my car is already in very good condition compared to the others, even some R34s have more rust issues. https://scontent.fhkg1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...Vg&oe=66D75F08 https://scontent.fhkg1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...RQ&oe=66D74C6C The dry carbon is very light and flexible, kinda like plastic lol. It doesn't feel like thick fiberglass that it will split/crack if you bend it. it flexes but retains it shape i suppose. |

this is an awesome video BTW, minus the rust clickbait title |
40k for a bodykit not including paint :derp: |
What's the point of the carbon roof if it just goes over top the existing metal? Also wouldn't that be a potential rust issue as you'll be trapping moisture between the carbon sheet and the roof metal panel? And yeah, something about Nissan and Mazda can't get their metals right. |
350z wasn't known to rust, compared to older 240sx cars. Compared to similar year Mazdas:fulloffuck: |
Yeah the carbon roof over the regular roof seems silly. It's like a really heavy wrap. |
I can't remember exactly but I think the garage active cars roof are cut out in the center (retaining the 'frame'), but I'm not sure I wanted to do anything like that as I'm not going to run a rollcage. Weight savings is actually the last thing on my mind, I was actually going to put padding/sound deadening inside the doors cause I hate that non-solid closing of the doors like a ratty car. |

I can get behind that :nyan: |
I thought you had to run a cage with carbon doors since they'll just shatter and do nothing if a car/pole/whatever hits them? |
Out goes the Mazda3, and in comes the M2 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...10cc2dfc_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c20bce99_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5cacc27f_b.jpg And the best daily https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...10f3a248_b.jpg |

These OG M2's are going to be sought after IMO. Great sound, stout motor. I very nearly pulled the trigger on one but ultimately decided on the 1M |
