If you want to drive it to work, I guess it's moot, but but some mods are allowed for collector's plates. Aftermarket wheels are fine as long as they're era correct and is within 1" of OEM wheels IIRC. The office was easy to work with when I reached out to them prior to putting in my application for my Miata.

The Producer 09-09-2024 07:48 AM

there's 20 guys in the corrado crew. several have collector plates that have more mods than me (1 is a full turbo kit along w 2" over stock 17" wheels). A few have applied w stock cars and not gotten through w dirty headliners or paint issues. i know the collector program guys are actually pretty cool about these cars at the office (they like them).

as you said - it's kind of moot. i just want to be able to use my cars without any restrictions. usually i just move a plate around throughout the summer for 28 bucks a pop.

This is actually the first time all my cars have been insured at the same time. If it wasn't so spread out with renewals it would be shocking, but it just worked out this year that they're all plated. Next year I'll go back to a moving plate setup.

I stand corrected haha

Found metal shavings in my oil pan after a track day at VIMC back in May.
Did my first engine swap (K24) and got it ripping at Ridge in September :fuckyea:

What're your thoughts so far, comparing F22 vs K24 in the car?

68style 09-18-2024 07:13 AM

Must be so much better to drive, just a better engine in all aspects... more torque, better power band, way less peaky, more peak HP

Probably only loses out a bit in sound... when I had a k-swap EK it sounded like shit no matter what exhaust was on it... it's either angry bees or angrier bees, take your pick lol

donk. 09-18-2024 09:00 AM

Impressive, what were the total hours to engine swap first time?

Both sounds pretty similar, from the back / hearing it drive around. Sounds sick af is what it is

So, J.C. Now that you've swapped a K-series engine, want to do the same for my R53 Mini? :troll:

Do not say yes.

That is what I love about Golden Era Hondas. Blow an engine. No problem. Not much downtime at all.

Hondaracer 09-18-2024 07:02 PM

Is the k series a relatively straight forward swap?

For the S2000 and the Miata it is, lots of kits, lots of people who've done it.

J.C 09-18-2024 09:13 PM

Yup fairly straight forward swap - lots of S2000s going to K-route with how expensive F-series motors are.

It Reuses the OEM S2K transmission and everything works like factory. It still feels like a S2000, but quicker. I now have a peak torque # of 177wtq @ 3600RPM compared to the F20, which was doing 140wtq @ 5500rpms while maintaining similar peak hp at 217whp. Still revs to a nice 8200RPM and it feels much quicker in every gear.

I do still want to throw a rotrex supercharger on at some point and get it in the mid-300whp range. This is my inspiration lol:

very impressive indeed. FeelsGoodMan
you are really living the "build, race, break, repeat" lifestyle

320icar 09-18-2024 09:54 PM

Speaking of ridge. The focus has been acting up, so I quickly prepped the daily echo RS and took it instead. Group C was hectic AF but I did the best job I could pointing people by. So of course I signed up for VIMC this weekend lol

When having one wasn't enough. Get another Yaris because you got the wrong lip for the car.

320icar 09-19-2024 01:00 PM

Ooh you gonna bumper swap?

I have no money or space. But tbh I’m gonna start keeping an eye out for another echo RS (2 door) in case I want a complimentary racecar to the focus haha. Having 400+awhp is nice but I also like the idea of an 80hp 1700lb echo

Naw. Gonna leave the bumpers alone since the Yaris is the older car too

red kryptonite 09-22-2024 11:19 PM

im tired of this shit... my 3rd hit and run within a year. even icbc asked if i considered parking somewhere else. im done with it, this thing is cursed, this thing doesnt fit in most parking spots, doesnt clear the underground staff parking at work (gated/cameras). im always paranoid every time i park. too many compromises
