Now, I've always wanted a NC Miata specifically a 2008 special edition in icy blue with the dark brown leather interior after I saw a younger girl at autocross driving one once and learned about the model. They only made about a hundred for Canada all of them I believe are PRHT and a couple had popped up recently in Ottawa, 1 with only 22,000ms on it but some weird repaints and leather damage... the other one rusty as shit and high mileage. Then I got an autotrader notification and there was a 3rd one for sale and it was in.... CALGARY. Well, that's obviously the universe trying to tell me something, and since I was down to 4 cars which is like... the unlucky death number and all, I set about contacting the (elderly) owner and, with the help of my best friend who lives in Calgary, buying it remotely.
When I arrived in Calgary, I was able to register it and get AB plates pretty easily despite having a BC license and just anecdotally telling the girl at AMA my Calgary address with no real proof at all lol...
Long story short, I love it. There are some niggles to address, like the NC1 has this awful hard plastic and ribbed elbow rest on the both the door and centre console and, inexplicably, the door cupholder is placed in exactly the right place to dig into your thigh, so I've got a NC2 door panel and centre console pieces en route to swap those over.
That said, the first thing I did with the car after getting it is run it to 9/10ths of its capabilities keeping up with a group of supercars on a very entertaining indirect drive to Kelowna and back with my best friend and some other guys he knows that I had never met. Obviously the Miata did NOT fit in with that quality of cars, but in the absence of my Supra which hasn't made its way to Calgary yet, I had a lot of fun. Check out my post in the Travel forum for details on that.
How the trip started:
How the trip ended... you got a dirty little mouth Miata: | If anyone else is also looking for this color, I think this is the same one. Manual, hardtop, low KM, but price is a little high. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/...teLocale=en_CA |

Since you guys loved the last echo content lol.
Trip out to VIMC the other weekend. Again, it’s a stock auto high mileage echo with cheap Chinese tires and even cheaper even more Chinese coilovers. Managed to do a 1:38.58 but had an absolute blast. This ever could be insanely fun stripped out, a little more power and an LSD to help wheelspin on the off-camber corners.
In case you’re still not sure how slow it is, I did a few Dragy runs. Best was 0-100kmh in 10.97s, and quarter mile in 17.67s haha. That VIMC time feels more impressive now |

I got it out for a shakedown after the long arm install and it did great. The firmer springs made it a lot more controlled when articulating but it was still nice and smooth blasting down the forestry roads. I got to test out my new air-down setup and it's way faster than my old one which is nice, and the auto-stop feature I wired into my compressor was nice too. Overall a solid day out!
I do need to try and rearrange some gear to try and get some weight further forward or get taller rear springs. I can probably carry a bit less water now that fire season is wrapping up and actually toss the winch on the front receiver which should help.

Sure is. I'd love the power of the 4.7 but those things break if a butterfly farts near it.

Let's say he's fast as hell and destroyed higher powered Beetles throughout the track. They are a lot of fun and it boils down to skill and technique.
The general sentiment with the club I run with is slow cars are way more fun to drive. And we are seeing fewer of them every year.

The joints apparently don't last very long but I don't drive much so I'm not too worried about it. Even if I replace all the joints it's still half the price of the other kits for a WJ.

The general sentiment with the club I run with is slow cars are way more fun to drive. And we are seeing fewer of them every year. | thats only because the beetles were powered internally by douchebags operating its Flinstone levers
their driving was hindered by the sweaters tied around their neck and brown wingtips to match their white pleated khakis

Im down in longbeach WA with my doggo.
Its beautiful down here. we slept on the beach last night. a little bit cold, so i turned on the car and left it running at around 2am.
Im a bit late for my annual drive down to oregon coast. Usually may is perfect, or early sept, late august.
Was gonna take the hitlerbox but a bit space restricted with all the dog beds/stroller/blankets required to keep her warm and happy. Plus the i5 is such a shit hole, im glad i took the more insulated suv. Pretty sure my doggo would have been deaf by the time we got past tacoma if she was in the hitlerbox.

Yeah but she’s high maintenance
I needed to bring two dog seat. One for the front so she can see out and enjoy the view but also a larger one for the back when she gets a bit too much sun and just wants to sleep. The larger one is also the one she slept on at night.
Then you gotta bring her stroller for when we go shopping along the coast. Like yesterday we were in seaside Oregon and I pushed her up and down the promenade and bought some nick nacks. Also needed to put her in stroller so I can go eat at mos clam Chowder at the patio.
Suffice to say it’s a full car load between my crap and her crap. Zero space for spy balloon. |
