thanks, but they wont fit. those wheels are are 5x120, g chassis are 5x112... not really sure why the M is a F chassis code though... ive been looking on the g8x forums but those guys aren't really running 11s up fronts.

ya those hartage wheels are ugly as sin. i like tuner style wheels, most fashion wheels are ugly imo.

I thought you have a M50, which is still a G05? But yeah not sure why the M SUVs all get a F chassis code. And yes you are right they are 5x112.

I just looked at my wheel specs and I'm a little surprised. 9.5F and 10.5R, but the tire sizes are 275/315. There's zero chance a 315 would fit on the M3 with a 10.5 without looking weird.

Wait.. he has a G chassis X5 that looks the same as the F95??? Confused. And its the same MY?!

I guess the nice part about 5x112 is that since it's standardized, as long as CB works out, you have a wider selection of wheels to choose from. Try FB pages that have the bolt pattern in the name. I got my ZE40s in 2018 from Norcal for 2200 USD shipped.

They're uncommon but out there - I saw a set out in Okanagan a few months ago when I was looking for wheels. IIRC the seller was asking ~$3200.

There's almost nothing for BMWs unless you buy new. 5x112 is still too new for BMW for fitment, and the Audi stuff doesn't fit/doesn't look right.

There's only been one generation of cars in 5x112, you'll have to wait for another generation for an abundance of used wheels. And the big M cars are honestly way too expensive for them to be common. Our taxation doesn't encourage the purchase of these cars either.

Sorry I wasn't clear - I meant that I found stock F95 Style 808M rims on winters. It seemed like a good deal bu they'd look ridiculous on a regular G05.

I don't envy you trying to find a set of winters at a good price given your limited options - I had a similar challenge trying to find wheels for my Volvo.

I hate the 740M wheels. I think they are so ugly. I'm a huge fan of the 20" 738 wheels, but those are extremely hard to find used.

I'm running knock off 741M right now for winters. They are heavy and ugly but they'll do.

I can't really imagine tuner wheels on the X5. They needs to be 21" to not look ridiculous, and 21" wheels are ridiculous lol. All the typical tuner wheels imo don't really fit the body style of the G chassis BMW SUVs.

So apparently Overdrive should be even cheaper than Apex themselves. I haven't price checked.

However seeing as these are winter "beaters" supposedly.. here's some China reps. I've been talking to the factory and the pictures I've gotten from them look like the exact same stamping as VS5RS lol. Like it literally says APEX VS5RS FORGED.

I didn't get a price quote for 21s, but 18x10 is $250 USD each + $370 USD for shipping to the door (incl customs)

Ohh, I've been thinking about those too. I can't decide what colour to go with though.

Group buy?

More reference on buying reps in China, ¥10,000 ($2000) can get you a set of 20"x9.5 forged customized reps. If want something cheaper, cast rims are ¥4,000 ($774) for a set of 19" are not bad. I had some BBS, Adv1 and HRE reps on my older cars they never had issue. Highly recommended for winter or beaters.

I wonder how they will be taxed in Canada?

They aren't even reps. The apex wheels are reps to begin with made in some factory in China. These just bypass the "Manufacturer" apex, which is really just a distributor for these alibaba wheels.

Ya, the 740m are not the best looking wheel but not bad imo. I much prefer them over the typical tire shop winter specials.
I think tuner wheels will work, I have a vision in my head. Just needs proper beefy tires, right offset, and a slight drop.

I didn’t realize Apex was a rep/ drop ship alibaba company. I never did a deep dive on the brand but figured if it’s good enough for so many P and M car owners it’s good enough for me. I’m not a wheel snob I have nothing against reps.

For the M2? Go with the brush silver!!! They’ll really pop with that blue.
I see group buys on bimmerpost and on their site from time to time. If I miss the Black Friday sale I’ll just wait for the next group buy.

The ARC8s are rep BBS RC. The VS5RS are rep 763M / BBS RIA (or maybe just inspired). The SM10 is rep ZE40 LOL. Idk what the FL-5 is supposed to be a rep of tho.

Apex has really good marketing and previously included a pretty good warranty/replacement program.

i think its fair to call apex a "inspired by" company and not reps. dont apex do alot of their own 3d scanning for bbk clearance and milling for weight saving? to me, apex is like a brand like enkei... reps are like avid1, rota, alibaba te37 with volk racing engraving

do they no longer offer replacement wheel at cost?

My limited understanding of Apex Wheels is -- they do their engineering work in the US, and farm out the manufacturing to China. They do their QC, slaps a warranty on their products, and goes to town with their sale. They've never tried hiding the fact that their products are made in China.

This is literally no different than how millions of other companies around the world conduct their business. As a closest example, the Konig wheels that my shxtbox rides on are MIC as well. Apple does this with their iPhones, although I think they are starting to / have started shifting away from the practice bcos TSMC is no longer allowed to export their latest chips to China.

The thing with Chinese manufacturing is -- what the business gets is usually built to the price the company is willing to pay. And QC is super important, bcos if you aren't keeping a close eye on the quality of the end product, the local manufacturing company would have good incentives to start cheaping out to turn up the profits for themselves.

IIRC, nowadays Apex offers replacement wheels at 1/2 their normal price.

I can tell you that 95% of the forged $$$ wheels from big brands are all made in China or Taiwan. They've been making a killing marketing all these years as made in the US. But in the end it's like Apple, Made in China but designed and stamped logo in US.

And for sure, an unpopular opinion, but a lot of manufacturing facilities in China have long surpassed the aging Japan or US facilities.
