Probably suckers that fold when someone tells em "yeah your tires need changing, they are at their half wear bar, do you want to proceed for 2000$ for the rears?"

bcrdukes 01-09-2024 06:41 AM

That's about right. Most 911s will get in and around that range for the rears, but that depends on how aggressively you drive, and your alignment setup. Throw in track days and an aggressive alignment, I'd imagine you'd get in and around 10K.

EvoFire 01-09-2024 08:38 AM

I think I got about 20000km on my set of tires on the M3. I'd say they would be fairly comparable.

underscore 01-09-2024 08:44 AM

I'd just be happy to get to drive a fun car enough to regularly need new tires in the first place lol.

Gerbs 01-09-2024 09:07 AM

Same, I think my winters + summer tires in 6-10 years before KM.

This really. I have a 5.5yr old M3 with 34k on it. Right when covid hit I drove it so little I thought about taking the insurance off.

i dont know if its just my luck but i had to deal with 2 brz/86 in the last few months and they both had oil pressure issues. One ended up needing an engine and the other one needed an oil pump.

bcrdukes 01-09-2024 10:46 AM

Any root cause as to why or what caused the oil pressure issues?

From what i gathered, the oil pan doesnt use a proper gasket, so the material used to hold it together finds its way to the pickup tube. Apparently its a common failure.

Same Porsche Carrera gt v10, Porsche bore score + pdk experience for a faction of the price :troll:

Too much RTV, breaks off and clogs the pickup. The also get low oil pressure if you take fast and long left handers.

bcrdukes 01-10-2024 06:38 AM

Does this problem exist for all model years? Or just the latest ones?

Do any solutions, be it factory or aftermarket, address or remedy this issue?

68style 01-10-2024 07:14 AM

It's the new ones, the 2.4 engine.

My friend has a BRZ from new right when it came out, he's done a few oil changes and there's always some RTV on the pickup.

I suppose one remedy would be to take the pan off and remove all the RTV and then re-do it all.

He's tracked his car a couple times too, only finding about the oil starvation problems (not related to RTV, there's also problems on cornering with oil sloshing away from the pickup) after the fact but he must be pretty lucky between the 2 problems to not have had an issue yet... he's scared to continue tracking it though, which is kinda lame cuz it's sort of the point of having it haha

underscore 01-10-2024 07:28 AM

I've heard of people pulling the pan off of brand new ones and redoing it. It should be easy enough to do on a car like that.

EvoFire 01-10-2024 08:20 AM

The insurance on the new 2.4 is to pull the pan, clean it, add baffles and then do your track days. It's a few hundred dollars to save yourself the potential headache of having to fight Subaru/Toyota about it down the road.

bcrdukes 01-10-2024 09:00 AM

I want the Trueno edition coming out and plan to track it should I be successful in getting one.
[Edit] I want to say I have little to no chance in getting one.

yray 01-10-2024 09:37 AM

y'all should just buy a old land rover

68style 01-10-2024 10:15 AM

I've heard the baffles didn't work? There's a YT channel where they did a lot of work with custom oil pans and their custom oil pan actually failed inside and blocked oil lol... solution killed the engine.

bcrdukes 01-10-2024 12:01 PM

Jesus Christ. Did Toyota/Subaru pay Porsche for consulting and build this engine for Subaru? :lol

Toyota can make BMW reliable, but they can't make Subaru reliable lol

It’s funny cuz Toyota is Subarus largest shareholder. Subaru is basically toyotabaru and can’t do anything with daddy Toyota giving them the green light.

JDMDreams 01-10-2024 12:27 PM

Y not Miata? The answer is always Miata

Or maybe Toyota doesn't want to.

Example: Put a CVT transmission on a WRX. y tho?!?!?! :okay:

roastpuff 01-10-2024 02:43 PM

Because Subaru doesn't have a DCT or auto, they don't have the engineering chops. Hence why the GR twins are using an aged Aisin 6-speed.

AstulzerRZD 01-10-2024 02:49 PM

Based on YouTube testing at A27, On the FA24 it's nothing an accusump ($500) can't fix. Can also overfill by a quart if your'e really concerned.
