Well... accusump is certainly a solution... but that's a shitty mod to have to do to a street/sometimes track day car... they're messy as heck to install and I definitely don't like the idea of having external heated oil stored outside the engine at any point in time.

It just simply shouldn't be that way... terrible design fault.

I wonder if more cars should be "overfilled" for track days to keep the feed happy.

When i found out the dipshits underfilled my car by 2.5L, someone at the track (Ridge) was telling that track has eaten a few C7s.
On a certain long corner, i forget if its left or right, but same thing. Starves, then blows the motor.
Furthermore i wonder if those C7s had dry sump or not, and if they followed the manual to overfill by 0.5L or not.

Im 50/50 with tracking a nice car.
One part me knows its the right thing to do.
The other half has seen people putting their cars into walls, blown engines, etc. And thats a painful day :/

Smokedvw, you buy a car yet? We want pics!

Don't think, just do. Let's be Trueno buddies. I put down a deposit for the Trueno Edition - red or white. Originally I wanted Neptune Blue but if the Trueno Edition is only 4k more, it's worth it for the limited edition factor (badging), red interior accents, Brembo front and rear brakes, and Sachs dampers. I want a new manual car that I can keep for a long time and the 86 checks a majority of the boxes.

I would most likely add wheels, exhaust, and some of the GR accessories from Japan.

It happens on the new models and some very early 2013 FRS that had the valve spring recall. When the techs did the rip-down, a bunch of them used too much RTV and nuked the motors.

I've had my late 2013 since new and put a hard 120,000km on it with sticky tires. I hoon it pretty good in the rain/snow/industrial parks.

Car has given me zero issues. My friend also got one the exact same time as me, no problems also.

Rmr, the ppl with no problems aren't going to write about it on the internet.

Rain, snow and industrial park hooning are not sustained high lateral G forces... that's having TW200 tires and being right at the edge of traction over 1.0G for extended and repeated times

Same car but there are differences in the suspension tuning.

GR86 - more tailend happy and oh shit inducing moments if you are not careful
BTZ - suspension is tuned more for daily driving (this is over simplifying it)

Each company went their separate ways in tuning their respective vehicles. Of course, big daddy Toyota gets to do the cool stuff. Probably told Subaru to stuff it, but I'll let the experts chime in

Otherwise, they are mostly the same car in most regards, but those are the two biggest differences.

The GR86 front bumper and the Toyota colours (Track BRed, Neptune Blue, and Trueno Blue) are more appealing to me, otherwise I would have gotten the BRZ as it was cheaper by 2-3k.

New for 24 is Eyesight for the manual transmission twins.

The new BRZ performance pack only gets the FSD shocks in the FRONT of the car. Some journalists said that the front absorbs the bumps well, then the back goes over it with the stock shocks and kinda squirms lol

Wow, that sucks.

I have the Koni FSD setup on my Boxster and I really like it. But to have it up front and stock rears? Jeez, Subaru!

It's always hard to tell whether this is cost cutting or if they genuinely hit the dynamics they were looking for without it.

IMO in the case of Mazda, their torsion beam suspension hit the dynamics/characteristics they were looking for in the 3/CX30/50.

In the case of the Subaru..... idk yo.

I think for daily driving, it makes sense, but if you want true performance and to really wring it out, the GR86 is the better option. But like you said, idk yo.

I've always thought about that - What happens when the motor goes on an FRS? Which engines would you throw into this chassis?

K-Power makes a complete swap package for $10,500 USD... that does NOT include the engine by the way.

At first I wanted to do a BEAMS 3SGE from an Altezza, but I'd love to own a V8 so then I thought maybe a 1UZ, but yesterday I saw a 13b swapped one which a) sounds amazing and b) seems less fiddly getting stuff like exhausts to clear since it's such a physically smaller engine than the others.

No to 3SGE, it's an iron block and it's heavy as hell.

Definitely SBC. I know played out, but easy 400hp.

BEAMS is only about 330lbs... iron block but aluminum head, most K series are about 300lbs

Can't argue with the power an LS puts out at 400ish lbs... but it's just... I don't know, spiritually it's just not the right engine for the car. Blindingly fast, but it just won't feel right.
