If the McLarens are 1/2 after T1 I don't think their pitwall could fuck the win. The Hungaroring looks like a fantastic race to attend being in a bowl. I bet there are some really good spectator seats.

Great entertaining race particularly off the track with all the drama in McLaren and also Verstappen.

Looking forward to listening to the post race podcasts and articles about it all this week.

Oscar!! Awesome race by McLaren

This is the first race I remember watching where Max actually made a huge mistake from
Being upset/angry, this second half of the season could get very interesting

awesome result maybe but once again a terrible strategy by McLaren. Only thing they have going for them coming out of this situation is that both Lando and Oscar are pretty cool customers.

the F1TV broadcast was fantastic. DC had no problem discussing how it went down for him and Mika in a similar situation, and how in retrospect he absolutely would not let a teammate by for the win. I secretly hoped Oscar would let him by on the last corner to show the team they created the whole issues themselves.

Angry Max - I miss this guy. The fake nice guy routine lately was getting old.

I dunno I can understand McLaren from both sides, but honestly Lando was pulling away from Piastri who had fresher tires will tell you all you needed to know.

And in the grand scheme of things, shouldn't McLaren give the W to Lando for maximum points to get closer to Verstappen?

I am happy for Piastri, but would you really want that as your first W in F1?

I've recently switched from the international feed to the f1tv feed and I agree the commentary today was great.

Apparently the broadcasters on sky kept on harping about max staying up late doing sim racing last night as the reason of his mood for this race.

DC's insight was fantastic, was funny how clearly uncomfortable he was and the flashbacks he was having himself watching the whole McLaren debacle.

HonestTea 07-21-2024 01:13 PM

How often is DC on the f1tv stream? That might make me switch from the International feed.

OSCARRRRRRRRRRRR! Those radio messages were filled with so much drama wow.

sonick 07-21-2024 01:26 PM

Speaking of the feeds, did they put new cameras into the cars recently? The new gyrocam and the reverse cam we saw at some point have been really cool.

Gyrocam in particular really does well to show the speed and the agility of these cars.

The angles were great. The chase cam of max chasing down Leclerc was awesome. I like how they’ve sacrificed some steadying for realism.

DC is on more than half the races. He generally gets replaced for the American events by James Hinchiffe - he’s good too

Yea so the TSN feed was definitely harping on max staying up late/waking up early to race in the sim races

that's sky coverage. with shitty commercials. I watched Silverstone up at the lake on TV last week because we've got no internet - it was painful. Commercials during the pit window! terrible.

F1 guys - do yourselves a favour and get F1TV. even if you watch the sky coverage (you can choose) no commericals. It's like 5 bucks a race.

You can also share the login and split the cost with a buddy or two

The time shift feature is a game changer. To be able to watch it from the beginning when the race is already in progress.

I've been cutting for the summer, and so my fav thing now is going to the gym Saturday and Sunday morning and hitting the elliptical doing LISS for an hour while watching quali or the race. Makes the time go by quickly and I look forward to it every race weekend.

The new cams have been a recent addition to the races.

Along with the cams, I believe the microphones in some of the cars have been repositioned? If you listen to the RB20 recently, it's giving me somewhat of the RB15 Brazilian Pole Lap vibes

If you guys use Google rewards, you can use those credits towards the F1TV subscription. I managed to subscribe to last year and this year's subscription without spending a dime out of my pocket.

But with the F1TV going up 20 bucks to $99, I'm not sure if my google rewards can cover the whole thing next year, but at least it can cover the majority of it.

Rumors are going around that after Miami, Red Bull was told by the FIA that they needed to remove a/some illegal part(s) which would explain the massive drop off of Perez since then and the, not as dramatic, drop off of Max.

HonestTea 07-23-2024 09:36 PM

Did anyone try for '25 Montreal tickets today? Today was the public show and heard it was a huge shit show!

TypeRNammer 07-25-2024 02:35 AM

Ocon to Haas on a multi year deal

Oliver Bearman having Ocon as his team mate next year :heckno:

sonick 07-25-2024 05:11 AM

Had that same thought. Way to crush Bearman's development

But I hope Bearman embarrasses Ocon with his performance.

supafamous 07-28-2024 06:33 AM

Motherf***er - set the PVR to record the preshow instead of the race and missed what looked to have been a great race. George on a 1 stop to beat the field, Perez converting a 2nd to an 8th (this should cost him his job), Mercedes 1-2 (wow! how?!).

Hondaracer 07-28-2024 09:24 AM

George with the DQ, ouch

dark0821 07-28-2024 10:00 AM

FOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK Feel so bad for Russel, I mean I get it, slippery slope 1.5KG under weight, where do you draw the line... buuuuuuuuuuttttt fuuuuuuuuuucccccccckkkkkkkk I am not the biggest Merc or Russel fan, but this sucks, and it is not even something technically the driver can control. Someone on his side of the garage fucked up and the driver is now paying for it....

Dammmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnn

On the other hand, as a Ferrari fanboy... congrats Leclerc on getting Bronze~~~ hehehehe

HonestTea 07-28-2024 10:07 AM

DAMN even though I wanted Hamilton to win, that fucking sucks for GR63

supafamous 07-28-2024 01:27 PM

That's awful for George - he's really showing that Mercedes will be in good hands when Lewis leaves. I think he's faster than Lando and smarter than LeClerc.

At same time can't feel too bad for Lewis getting the win - he did nearly everything right today.

sonick 07-28-2024 04:13 PM

Man this season has been an unexpected banger.

Sucks for George but Piastri has been very impressive. He's seemed to figured out the tire deg weakness.

Kinda his own "fault" when he strategised this without taking into account that the tyres he used since lap 10 were constantly losing weight and this track does not allow any opportunity to pick up rubber pieces after the end of the race.

If he did any of the following, he would still be on the podium:
1) Lift and coast more instead of fighting with Hamilton in the last stint
2) Settle for 2nd early on (so his car would not likely have been scrutinized)
3) Go for a two-stop

Russell did none of these. Horner (of whom I am not a fan) said the strategist is to blame, and in this case, Russell is that strategist trying to push his luck.

Toto Wolff's facial expression at the end of the face kinda gave it away that a disqualification would be on the table.

TypeRNammer 07-28-2024 04:28 PM

Checo having a masterclass drive, starting 2nd and finishing 7th

Max having a decent recovery drive from 11th to 4th

Even though the redbull is not a rocket ship this time around, it shows that Max is extracting everything he could in the 3rd fastest car

I like the hail Mary one stop from George, just unfortunate he got DQ'd from being underweight
