Lando should've just crashed into Max, at least the point gap stays the same.

TypeRNammer 10-20-2024 11:18 PM

A lot of highlights from the race.

Charles taking the lead at the start
Lewis with a rare mistake and beaching his car
George with the pit lane start and finishing 6th to beat Checo
Hulkenberg finishing in the points
Liam Lawson with a 60 place grid penalty and finishing 9th

EDIT

I forgot to mention, George got a 5 second penalty and still manage to beat Checo

The Producer 10-27-2024 07:15 PM

good race for most of it. there was about 20 laps where i was yawning in the middle.

it was interesting to see how the penalties were divied out. 20 seconds seems like an eternity - but the driver that got fucked really didn't get that much of an advantage out of it.

when i used to watch indycar - they had stop and go penalties. it almost seems like in this case - a stop and go penalty against Max would have been a better solution. get him out of the way of lando right away, only lose ~10-12 seconds instead of 20. more "fair" to both of them

EDIT wiki says there hasn't been a stop and go penalty in F1 since 2020. maybe it's time to bring it back

Hondaracer 10-28-2024 08:45 AM

Max has some balls basically willing to get in a crash over giving up the position lol.. both those instances where he was penalized it could have easily resulted in contact

Checo is trash as I’ve said before lol.. look at who was ahead of you and you still couldn’t make any progress?

roastpuff 10-28-2024 08:55 AM

In Max's opinion a crash is even better - no net movement in points if they both DNF. Heck, he might have even preferred it lol.

HonestTea 10-28-2024 11:40 AM

That's how Max races, is anyone surprised? This is what happens when you elected not to punish him in 2021 vs. Lewis cause it effected the WDC.

Spoon 10-28-2024 12:06 PM

The Piastri + Max collision needs to happen soon. What happened to returning the favour after Hungary?

He definitely seems like he’s been pushing the limit in terms of what he can get away with lately since the RB has been outclassed. It definitely felt like with the 2 penalties simultaneously they felt like they had to send a message to him

Or make him return the position as Lando's race was affected to the point where maybe he could have won (doubt it though - Sainz was hooked up all weekend).

It's too bad this track was changed so much to make it suitable for F1 - when Indycar went there the old esses were still in place and it was such a challenge to get through there clean. Now there's no character to the track.

not enough of a penalty IMO

stop and go would immediately return the place (unlike this race where Max was clearly dogging it to hold Lando back for as long as possible)

Max is going to exploit every rule. I don't like him for it, and it's not sportsmanlike (see 10 laps of Hamilton chasing George for much cleaner sportsmanlike racing) I don't blame him though. He can just shrug and point at the rule book.

F1 has a rule problem here, they need to close it up. Or bring back some potent gravel traps...

TypeRNammer 11-03-2024 03:02 AM

You guys need to watch qualifying, it is absolutely nuts.

Hondaracer 11-03-2024 11:44 AM

Every race should be like this lol.. Stroll what a clown, just careless.

Big fuckup by McLaren when they had a chance to make headway in the drivers.

Entertaining weekend for sure lol

snowball 11-03-2024 02:33 PM

So you're saying Ecclestone wasn't wrong about sprinklers all over the tracks? :accepted:

The whole Sunday was nuts. Exhausting just watching the race lol

Every lap watching drivers barely hanging onto the grip

Not the biggest Verstappen fan but this was a legendary career defining drive from him I can't help but cheer for such a great drive from him.

Edit: also LOL lance stroll going off and then immediately driving into the gravel trap and getting beached on the formation lap.

dark0821 11-03-2024 06:32 PM

not a Verstappen fan, but honestly deserves what will be his 4th world driver champion! I agree with above, what a drive!!!

Fucking Ferrari... fook.... still a chance for constructors... but that door is closing fast~~

HonestTea 11-03-2024 08:42 PM

SUPER SUNDAY! Qualifying and Race was insane on the same day!

Brazil never disappoints.

The Producer 11-04-2024 09:09 AM

the first corner camera angle in Brazil has to be the best camera angle for the whole season

i can't find a clip, but you know the one.

simply no question that Max is the best driver of this most modern era of F1. He makes other guys look like they're standing still - and the performance delta between him and Checo just blows me away every time.

Kudos to him - I see glimpses of the human being once in awhile and hope one day he chills the robot mode a bit.

Fucking Lance man.

I thought the way they started the VC just after Russel and Norris passed the pit, and then ended it just as they pulled off into the pit was absolute bull shit.

Then the full SC came out at a very nice time for Verstappen.

Verstappen drove a good race, but wow.. he sure did get some help from the race coordinator. Maybe my tinfoil hat is a bit tight today, but the VC easily could have stayed on for one full lap to at least make things even.

Hondaracer 11-22-2024 12:36 PM

Rumours that the Cadillac/Andretti team will be allowed to enter F1 in 2026

Good thing all around imo, especially given the expansion into the US with the additional races we’ve seen this generation

Disagree.

The VSC or regular safety car should only be used as long as necessary for the track to get back to safe racing conditions. The race shouldn't be held back from full racing conditions to "even it out" for the drivers.

dark0821 11-22-2024 06:04 PM

watch max actually do well in quali... they just want everyone to think they got the wrong setup/wing to juke the other teams lolol

Hondaracer 11-23-2024 08:50 AM

Very impressive quali from George

sonick 11-23-2024 09:06 AM

Also Gasly P3 in an Alpine wtfffff

mb_ 11-23-2024 09:35 AM

All of a sudden, Alpine has been relevant in the last couple of races :lol

dark0821 11-23-2024 10:00 AM

Max should cruise to victory this weekend.

Hoping Ferrari can capitalize and get some points off McLaren for the manufacture~
