So a few of the seams on our gutters have been leaking for some time on our 2.5 year old house and we realised we could file a claim under our home warranty but the vendor is saying that if we haven't been cleaning our gutters every 6 months using an extraction method that the warranty is void.
I've never heard of anyone who cleans their gutters every 6 months - that sounds like total bullshit to me. I live in a treeless area and I can see my first floor gutters and there is no debris or build-up at all on them so there's no maintenance issue.
Any advice on how to deal with the vendor? Or do I just suck it up and find someone else to address the issue?
Here's their specific language:
Quote:
This warranty does NOT include liability due to fire, lightning, windstorm, ice/snow/debris buildup, wind, acts of God, pollution, structural defects, damages caused by other individuals, misuse, or failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance. Maintenance of your gutter system includes regular cleaning twice a year by extraction method.

It's not quite saying it's void but implies it can be voided.
