Kane showing grit in scoring the fourth goal. Kopitar kept pushing him from behind? No problem.

If the Coilers win the series, that dumb call by the coach will forever be cemented as the moment the entire series changed. Wow.

Oilers look slow and old besides Mc David. Kings play a faster game and get to the puck first.
Losing Broberg, and Holloway really costing them. But you know gotta pay Leon that 14M.

Well as suspected, Canucks being cheap: https://canucksarmy.com/news/vancouv...ract-stalemate
Imagine us having to dump our 1st round pick over a $200K dispute.
This franchise is a disaster.

Read somewhere that it's unlikely about the actual 200k, but likely that he wants a verbal agreement that they won't trade him after signing (given what PA has said about needing to trade for players).
With M. Petey, Hronek, Myers, and the emergence of D Petey, Willander really is a prime trading piece.

I guess that's a good sign. He really likes being in Vancouver, lol.
A young guy at his stage in life generally should have no problem uprooting. I'm surprised the worry of being traded is the issue.

Probably because they have a lot of Swedish players. As well as the GM. Like it or not Canucks have to trade to get top forwards. They need 3 according to JR.

If he chooses to sign here, and then they trade him immediately before the season even begins, he has no control over where he gets traded to.
I don't know why anyone wouldn't want control over where they go if it's an option.

School me ... I never understood how that worked. A player gets drafted by a team, say Canucks, he goes back to college to play then he's free to sign with whoever? Or does he goes back into draft? What is this burning a year on contract refer to?

Didn't look too long, but here's an explanation from 10 years ago https://www.buckys5thquarter.com/wis...hockey-players
Basically, if the draft pick plays college hockey but chooses to leave school prior to their senior season, they will become free agents. At that point, they can sign with anybody and the team that drafted them has no rights. Why does it work this way? I have no idea.
Draft pick's first contract is an Entry Level Contract, either 2 or 3 years depending on the circumstances as explained in the link. If you sign them to that ELC near the end of the NHL season when there's only 10 games left, then you've used up 1 of those years. The players want this, because not only do they get paid, but they'll finish up their ELC sooner and reach RFA status sooner, meaning getting big bucks sooner, and then reach UFA sooner, and even bigger bucks after that.
There are pros and cons to this, and in Willander's case, they say it's actually better for him to not burn the year.
