He seem like a good guy and a player the Flames should have kept. RIP.

teggy604 08-30-2024 12:27 PM

Flames did offer him a bag of cash. He still declined and wanted to be closer to home.

wtf... So the car in front moved over to the left to give more space for the Gaudreaus cycling and the driver took that as an opening to slip to the right and did he just floor it or something. :fulloffuck:

He said that he thought the car in front was trying to block him from passing on the left, so he went right.

Sounds like the kind of asshole driver who would be flooring it.

MarkyMark 08-30-2024 12:55 PM

That's crazy, another driver trying to be courteous to them by giving more room ends up being the reason some drunk tries to pass on the shoulder :fulloffuck:

Life really is a coin flip sometimes

max 10 years for each?? seriously?

didn't New Jersey was in Canada....figured this guy would get life x2 but i guess it's not premeditated??

68style 08-30-2024 03:07 PM

I like how he threw his head back like "Fuuuuck" when he found out he has to stay in jail until Thursday... like so sorry bro if that's an inconvenience for you after you just ended 2 people's lives and tore their whole family apart.

Guy's going to burn.

nismodrifter 08-30-2024 03:20 PM

I'm a Calgarian living out here now. This was a true shock to my system today. Very sad.

unit 08-30-2024 06:18 PM

like i said, if you want to kill someone then wait till they're riding a bike and you will get off easy.

AzNightmare 08-30-2024 06:48 PM

I hate how sentence duration is pretty much the only metric of punishment in our legal system.
A small crime, short amount of time in prison. A serious crime, prison for life, ideally.

Nah, fuck that. If I had it my way, you receive proportional physical punishment on top.

This guy deserves to at least get hit my a car, have both his legs busted so he's crippled for life, and I'll think of some more inhumane things later, but let's start there, and then the prison time can be decided, but prison definitely won't be the worst thing that happens.

No surprise, Draisaitl signs biggest extension in NHL history, 8 yrs for $112M, $14M aav

How does that work when top dawg McDavid only gets $12M/yr ... it is what it is?

68style 09-03-2024 08:35 AM

lol maybe he won’t be so pissy now

murd0c 09-03-2024 12:03 PM

Mcdavids new contract will for sure be 16mill a season and factor in Bouchards contact as well 10mill they are going to be paying 40+ mill for four players lol

pastarocket 09-03-2024 12:19 PM

Apparently Draisaitl's contract was completed last week, but they delayed the announcement in light of what happened to the Gaudreaus.

bobbinka 09-03-2024 02:55 PM

McD is the 2nd youngest forward on the team, lol. Only Podz is younger.

Drai will only be most expensive player for 1 year, McD's contract is up after this year.

Don't forget Nurse who's already getting $9mil+, so $50~mil for 5 players.

westopher 09-03-2024 04:32 PM

I'd pay 9 million to nurse for him not to play. That's for sure the worst contract currently in the NHL.

mb_ 09-03-2024 06:12 PM

$14m for Drai is worth it imo. But Edmonton will be in cap hell when McDavid's extension and yeah, Nurse's $9.25m plus Bouchard's rumored $10m extension.

teggy604 09-03-2024 07:09 PM

Wants to win in Edmonton. Didn't seem like he took a discount.

I'm not sure what you mean? Are you implying Mc Jesus is pissed he's not the highest player or that some unwritten rule that he must be the highest paid player is broken? Contracts are at completely different timelines when his is up in a couple years it'll be higher than the 14 easy. There's no issue here other than they'll have 30 mill allocated to 2 players albeit 2 insane players.

68style 09-04-2024 07:12 AM

The % of salary cap they are taking up at the time of signing is equivalent, McDavid's contract is just older... that's more the metric being used for top players these days...

whitev70r 09-04-2024 03:08 PM

Yah, on paper it seems like the best player isn't the highest player although in Draisaitl's case, you could argue McDavid and him are 1A and 1B. It happened because of timing. I think Malkin was making more than Crosby cuz of when they signed.

I suppose McDavid has been enjoying his $12M AAV for the last 5-6 yrs and by inflation, it is prob equiv to $14M currently ... or more.

teggy604 09-04-2024 04:18 PM

Would be funny if a team offersheet Bouchard. Lol.

The best player in any league will never be the highest paid player every year. Usually only for a a year or 2 until the next group of best players re up on their deals so nothing new here. In fact McDavid wasn't even in the top 10 in salary last year nor is he in the top 10 for next year either.

bobbinka 09-05-2024 01:42 PM

McD is 3rd highest in cap hit, only Matthews and Mackinnon are ahead

comparing salaries of each year is weird cause contracts can be front/back loaded and then you have signing bonuses
