I like hockey, but the culture behind it is fucking sickening. That's was one of the big reasons I quit when I was younger. I'd rather go snowboarding and not have 15 dudes jerk off onto a cracker and have to eat it thanks. |

It's a Berta thing maybe? |
Nope. Soggy cracker hazing is not limited to AB. Hopefully was not.. |
No word of a lie, I was eating crackers when I opened this thread... Not eating them anymore, bowl pushed away. |
Is Boston mental?? Signing Swayman to 8x8.5??? After they just grabbed Lindy and Z from us? That’s a huge risk, Sway doesn’t even have a full season under him, always duos with Ulmark and sheltered behind crazy team D |
Maybe they kept the wrong goalie ... should have kept Ullman for a 2-3 yr period and traded Swayman instead. |
Vancouver Canucks @Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have acquired D Erik Brannstrom from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Tucker Poolman (20% salary retained) and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Great move, get rid of Poolman’s roster spot and Brannstrom is waived to the minors and we start the season without exceeding the cap all for the cost of a 4th rounder and a bit of cash |
Gives us a bit of cap space to work with as well if we want to pick up someone at the trade deadline |
Nice! That was one of those things we needed to get done in order to accrue cap space without using LTIR. The goalie mess in Boston is almost entirely Sweeney's own doing lol. If you didn't know, he told the media Swayman had 64 million reasons to play this year and then Swayman's agent publicly stated they were never offered 8X8 at any point. So now, signing 8x8.5 is basically a nice little fuck you buddy for talking shit. They're going to be in cap hell real quick here if those long contracts don't pan out. |
I think Cam Neely was the one who said that at a news conference? |
I also heard it was Seabass. |
Hogs signed to an extension 3x3… could go either way, he was great in the reg season but invisible/snake bitten for playoffs |

Goalies are the biggest crap shoot in NHL positions. |

Welp, NHL still has a charisma/personality problem, boy, these guys are uninteresting as fuck in terms of characters. Great player, but Quinn Hughes is about as exciting as a staph infection, he's got the personality of a wet mop. I think I'm good on the 2.5 episodes I ended up watching :lol |
There's not enough black dudes in the NHL to make it interesting :D |
My comment isn't racial, I promise :lol Those white country boys in the NFL have some pretty funny personalities, Hard Knocks is such a good sports doc because of how interesting the players are. NHL players are just boring for the most part, they're encouraged to be quiet, give one word answers to everything. They're all mild mannered, tend to have no personalities which doesn't make them very marketable from a television standpoint. I've tried to watch so many of these hockey docs, but they all just seem to fall flat when it comes to the players. |
This is the only clip from Faceoff that caught my attention. McMuffin was dropping F bombs to rally his team during the Stanley Cup Finals. Too little too late from the Coilers after trailing 3-0 in the Finals. https://youtu.be/B5ukDHU85iA?feature=shared The best part of the Coilers losing to the Panthers was absolute silence from my colleagues in Edmonton. No more "Let's Go Oilers! chants during online meetings" after game 7. :lawl: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Is it because hockey is such an expensive sport to get into, especially if you have a legitimate shot (no pun intended) at making the NHL? |
Canadian markets ruin any players that have a semblance of personality because they get skewered in the media over the slightest thing. Take Luongo for example, guy was hilarious and seemed like a legitimately nice guy but used his twitter alias for years just as a way around dealing with sacks of shit in the media like Tony Ghallger etc. It’s far easier to be vanilla and use those canned answers in interviews than say the most minor thing then be asked about it for a month |
-just heard news that the Canucks re-claimed Jiri Patera from Boston. https://canucksarmy.com/news/vancouv...-patera-bruins -from the article: Since Vancouver was the team to claim Patera, and they already placed him on waivers, he can get sent straight to Abbotsford without needing to clear waivers again – that is, if Vancouver was the only team to claim him. |

I think hockey players don't care about drama. It's all professional and they are paid to play hockey and not try to be a reality star. Just ask PK Subban what happens when you try to juggle the two. lol. |
