I'm glad we tied it up but... it's the sharks, we should be absolutely dominating them even if they're on a 3 game winning streak..

Score may not reflect the rest of the stats. Will be good to get out of there with 1 point

The team’s depth helped the team win tonight.
Miller and Petey did not have any high danger scoring chances.
Boeser had some good shots and hit a post.
Garland made great plays tonight to set up goals. He helped drive the offence.
Great to see Suter and DeBrusk score goals!
Bieksa made some comments after the game that Petey is looking to make the safe play, the safe pass in order to prevent turnovers.
Maybe Petey should rely more on his offensive instincts in order to generate scoring chances?

I agree with what they said on afterhours, Petey looks like he just wants to pass the puck as soon as he gets it, making the safe play instead of trying to make something happen. You're getting paid to be the guy that makes something happen, leave that safe shit for the 4th liners.

Petey is at his best when he skates hard toward the net and shoots the puck. Driving offence in that way.
The one thing that I noticed during tonight’s game was Petey in front of the Sharks’ net during power plays. That is a good place for him to be on the PP instead of being on the side boards.

Yup. You can get NHL guys that can do what Petey is doing without falling down for way less than 11.6M. He still only had 1 SOG. Zeros across the board. He is the odd man out on this team unfortunately. His stats are 4th liner worthy tho. lol.

The Canucks can do set plays on the PP with Petey in front of the net.
Here is an example. Hronek or Hughes on the point with a hard shot. Hard shots goes off the goalie pads.
Petey is at the front of the net for the rebounds.
Boeser was also at the left point during the Sharks game. He was also at the bumper
Position for 5 on 5 and power play.
Brock had great chances to score. He hit at a post from a shot at the left face off circle during the Sharks game.
I would rather have Boeser shooting the puck from the perimeter or the bumper position during 5 on 5 play or PP than Petey because Brock has a quicker shot release than EP40.
Petey tends to hold the puck a bit longer before shooting the puck compared to Boeser from what I see.
There are players better suited to play at the point than Petey after I stop to think about comments made on this thread.
Boeser is the better option than Petey for shooting from the face off circle and bumper
Position.
Where does that leave Petey? Maybe try putting him near the front of the net.
Miller is the playmaker on the PP who always looks to pass first. Petey is also an excellent passer too. You can also have Petey on the side boards during the PP to makes passes to the player open for a shot or have him shoot from the face off circle. That is another option.
Anyways, the coaches will have more options for the PP units once players get healthier.
Joshua is about 1-2 weeks away from playing again. The coaches can put DK on the second PP unit with Garland. Garland is the play maker for the PP. Put Joshua in front of the net for rebounds or have him be open for passes from Garland.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | Petey would be better in the mid/low slot, so neither on the boards or at the doorstep. Kid aint feisty enough to be Ryan Smyth nor does he have a Naslund release; he needs some space but not too much space to optimize his skill.

You know. Petey wants to play against the best lines, he wants to be the best according to Bruce Boudreau. Tocchet wants to get Petey going. Put him at 1C with Debrusk and put Miller back down to 2C. Let Petey be creative and play his game. Give it few months and see if Petey can get back to himself. If we end up below .500 next year well then so be it. lol.

How does any of that change the fact his skating speed is as low as its ever been and his highest shot speed this season has been 82mph which is like 15mph off his previous seasons?
There can be no other reason besides injury. I have no idea why he's playing instead of sitting or dealing with whatever the issue is.

It is what thing for a hockey player to be "tough", suck it up, and play through an injury.
However, if Petey's game is suffering big time because of an injury, then he should not play games. Get the proper treatment for the injury and give time for his body to heal.
