If you want to hedge your bets at going to the best game possible, it’s always gonna be a Saturday night game |
yeah but I swear we shit the bed more often than not when it's HNIC |
 |
Sure... week to week, gonna be month to month. |
When did said injury occur to Hughes? |
He was questionable against San Jose and played... Jeff Patterson asked Tocchet about that decision to play him in that game and Tocchet said his injury couldn't have gotten any worse and he's a tough kid who stuck it out and played. Okay... but playing won't make the injury better? Why not play every game with the injury and just not give a fuck right? I think it's a broken finger is my guess. |
The Official 2024/2025 Canucks & NHL Thread I agree 100 percent with Alvin’s comments about Petey. Any player can be traded. If Gretzky was traded during his career, so can EP40. The man needs to grow up! Act like a professional and spend less time with gaming. https://www.sportskeeda.com/us/nhl/n...iidgh9giye5dmb When asked about the possibility of a trade, Allvin maintained an open perspective, stating: "I believe in him (Pettersson). (But) he needs to mature and understand that there are certain expectations and it does not get easier. And you need to face the music when things don't go well. Is it (a trade) possible? I guess I would say anything is possible." https://www.canucksdaily.com/poll? It comes back to expectations and preparation, how you prepare yourself. I don't believe that he was aware of just how hard it was going to be. Just because you achieve one thing to get a long-term extension life just gets harder. You haven't really accomplished anything. You're not even halfway there (to winning a Stanley Cup). And then obviously the mental part comes in there, too, and suddenly you feel the pressure,» Allvin said. That's a big red flag when you have a professional 26 yr old hockey player and you still need to work on maturity. Lol |
Wow ... those comments by Allvin on Petey. I think it's the end of Petey here in Vancouver. Farewell. |
Good, was never a fan of the guy. Miller all day. |
His career here is over now.. Doesn't matter when or if he gets traded, it's over |
|
Shorty and Tomlinson have yet to develop anything resembling chemistry.. except maybe vinegar + baking soda Tomlinson is just too much of a dork. I don't think it's ever going to work |
Really hoping Ferraro will takeover fulltime. He's SO MUCH better with Shorty. |
This game is pretty fun I gotta say. Total goon fest |
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROCK BOESER :awwyeah: TIE GAME |
About what I expected missing Hughes/Petey/Hronek. |
As the article I posted says, it's hard to entirely blame your star forwards when the D are all third pairing or worse without Hughes/Hronek. Allvin can deflect all he wants but the defense signings were his to make and he went with... this. |

It’s on Alvin’s shoulders to find an actual top 4 defenceman for the team. The Canucks’ lack of defensive depth is exposed big time now. When Tocchet is forced to put out Myers to play more minutes in each game, disaster happens. Tired Myers terrible attempt to pass to Garland in the game against Seattle in OT was a clear example of a defenceman playing out of his best position in terms of the d man depth chart. The team does not have a smooth skating defence man who can make the quick pass to the forwards in games now in order to play Tocchet’s system of an uptempo offence. No Hughes to quarterback the power play to makes passes to forwards. Acquiring Forbort and Desharnais during the offseason is just not good enough work from Allvin to bolster defensive depth. Which team has a decent number of solid Dmen that Canucks could trade for .. say, a 1st line C in exchange ?.. 4Head |
^ that’s why Buffalo keeps coming up… literally 3 first round picks, 2 of them being first overall and 1 4th overall playing on their D amongst others |
Gosh, that should light a fire under Petey's arse, how would you like to be traded to literally the Gulag / armpit of NHL teams! |
If Petey starts lighting it up now it'll probably be more likely he gets traded lol. The only thing stopping a trade right now is he's mediocre and his salary is sky high. |
I think we need to remember how many teams Miller has been traded from and how they went on to see significant success after his departure. Obviously this issue has been very divisive but no one can ignore the fact that one player has been traded multiple times and the other has not. I'm obviously hoping they can work shit out and just start winning but who knows what's going to happen here. I am still maintaining that you don't win trades where you send away star level talent for a bunch of players who are of undeniably lesser quality. Also, if we do in fact trade Petey, how long until Miller rubs another star on the team the wrong way? If given the choice, I'd rather trade the player who seems to be causing the problems. |
