Remember when Joshua, and Garland got in each other faces and had a scrap. Now they are good linemates and one of the reason Canucks did so well last season. The fact that Petey played in Sweden then came over to the NHL probably play a huge factor. I think if Petey grew up playing North American hockey it might be different?

Down another

Team has been falling apart for months, no longer a surprise. I saw that Hughes is a game time decision. There's also some curiousity about D Petey getting a look since our D corps is AHL level anyways lol. I last saw that Hronek is skating but weeks away from returning to action.

This upcoming string of games is against top 10 teams in the league. Could very well break us.

68style 01-06-2025 12:32 PM

Yah the next 10 could be he end of our playoff hopes unless they really band together.

I think Dak got hurt when Blueger pushed a guy into his knee in NSH, didn't play the 2nd and came back for the 3rd.

spoon.ek9 01-06-2025 12:36 PM

Sigh, just proves the point that progress isn't linear in the NHL. You would have thought we could have picked up where we were last year but the defense choices and other shit have really tanked our chances. We'll be lucky to be a wild card at this rate and even then, likely a 1st round exit. Knowing how impatient JR is, if there was a good move to make he would have made it already. Anything between now and trade deadline will likely have a knee jerk reaction and then poof, goodbye playoff hopes.

This team is cursed.

bobbinka 01-06-2025 03:40 PM

We miss the veteran presence from Schenn/Cole, and another loud mouth from Zadorov. Definitely changed the room dynamics. They need a locker room guy that everyone respects. JT can't be the one to run the room.

Anyway.... another game on Prime, damnit

This feed looks much better than the one at home

So stupid like obviously every arena has the 4K cameras, why don’t they use those for every feed ffs

Man the only reason the game is tied is cause of Lanki

Defense keeps giving them dangerous scoring chances

keifun 01-06-2025 06:09 PM

Canucks D is like Swiss cheese. Holes everywhere

teggy604 01-06-2025 06:11 PM

Are we surprised by the Canucks downfall? I remembered some ppl on here already called it. That the Canucks would regress this season. Haha.

bcuzracecarz 01-06-2025 07:29 PM

On pace for the most OT losses in history. Sucked to see that goal go off Quinn after how well he’s played this year, probably feels like a “what the hell else can go wrong” moment for him.

fsy82 01-07-2025 07:53 AM

The defense is so bad. What was the management thinking this off season. Why was Hogs on the ice for the last minute, stupid penalty on his part

EvoFire 01-07-2025 10:47 AM

We signed something like 3 third pairing or replacement guys, trying to fill in the 4th, 5th, and 6th spot?

It wasn't going to end well and I read a lot of commentators being rather cautious about it.

It's Allvin's fault for failing to find a top 4 defenceman for our Canucks.

You have Hughes and Hronek as your top pair of d-men. Then the depth chart on defence drops considerably after those two players.

Hondaracer 01-07-2025 10:55 AM

I like what they said on the radio last night about management thought too much of themselves in letting guys go last season thinking they had the magic touch to fill those vacancies with just any other plumber that would fit right in which obviously has not been the case.

Now you’re just sitting here debating whether it’s worth leveraging the future for another layoff push. Gonna be some tough choices to be made if they are below the playoff bar come the deadline

pastarocket 01-07-2025 11:01 AM

Speaking of big decisions, Allvin has a decision looming before July 1st.

Boeser is an unrestricted free agent soon. Contract year for him.

He and his agent are going to ask for a big money contract.

They were stuck between a rock and hard place. TBF to them, Zadorov and Lindholm isn't doing particularly hot, and definitely isn't worth the contract that they demanded.

Hondaracer 01-07-2025 12:18 PM

Yea I agree and it was definitely the right move not to pay them like they got, but thinking someone like Desjharnais would just fill in for those spots was pretty wishful thinking in hindsight

68style 01-07-2025 12:21 PM

Desharnais has been the least of our problems lately, he's been... dare I say... pretty good the last 2 weeks.

Forbort and Juulsen are trainwreckes though... and Soucy has been exactly the opposite of what he was last year -- consistent.

They should have kept Cole... he did look bad against speedy EDM in the playoffs but for regular season he most certainly would look a lot better in there on the PK and 5v5 than Juulsen does.

Hondaracer 01-07-2025 12:23 PM

Yea I agree with that, he’s stepped up but much like Meyers, he will be a disaster if he’s forced to play up the lineup

pastarocket 01-07-2025 03:44 PM

Good decision from Allvin haha. Hang up the phone:

According to Josh Yohe, a writer for The Athletic who generally covers the Pittsburgh Penguins, says that earlier this season the New York Rangers offered up struggling forward Mika Zibanejad as part of a trade for J.T Miller - an offer which the Canucks promptly rejected.
